Deseo en esta ocasión escribir mis impresiones de la película "En busca de la Felicidad" que hace unos días fue la iniciativa del cine foro # 3 en la columna "Encuentros de Bienestar". Desde la primera vez que vi esta película me gustó mucho, el ejemplo de superación de Chris Gardner es impresionante. Esta historia de vida nos presenta lo dramático que puede resultar una vivencia en un momento de la vida y al mismo tiempo nos muestra como pueden cambiar las cosas de forma extraordinaria como resultado del esfuerzo, la perseverancia, la resistencia y la voluntad para salir adelante en medio de las circunstancias más adversas. "En busca de felicidad" es el título, pero qué es la felicidad?
La falta de recursos para Chris Gardner fue la razón para vivir en la calle con su hijo durante un año, el año más terrible de su vida. Durmió en un baño público, en el autobús, en la oficina, en albergues o sitios de beneficiencia. El dinero no le alcanzaba para pagar una renta donde pudiese vivir con su pequeño, con lo que conseguía apenas si podía alimentarse, era una situación muy difícil. Pero lo asombroso es que esto pasaba y aparentemente era desconocido para los demás.
El llevaba a su hijo a la guardería e iba a trabajar, colocando todo su esfuerzo en ser el mejor en la capacitación que estaba recibiendo. No se desanimó, continuó y hablaba con seguridad a los clientes, con convicción, creo que tenía una inteligencia emocional y una resilencia suficientemente fuertes que le permitió mantenerse a flote en esas circunstancias. No se avergonzaba de hablar a personas con mucho dinero cuando el no tenía absolutamente nada. Trabajador incansable, sonreía a sus clientes, transmitía seguridad.
Mantenía viva la fe en Dios, en la película se ve adorando al Creador, confiandole su vida. Atesoró pensamientos, valores, creencias que le permitieron salir vencedor. Un hombre muy inteligente, capaz, que a pesar de las circunstancias luchó por no perder la confianza en Dios y en sí mismo, recuerdan la escena del cubo rubik?, -yo puedo- decia y pudo hacerlo.
En la escena final de la película, en el momento que le notifican su continuidad en el trabajo, que le dicen que él fue seleccionado, expresa una emoción tan fuerte que el personaje actua como si no supiera que hacer, si llorar, reir o gritar, se siente ese momento especial, y es cuando dice que ese momento lo llama felicidad.
En una ocasión en una entrevista el auténtico Chris Gardner expresó " Que no hay relación entre el dinero y la felicidad", también dijo que "la felicidad es un componente interno". Creo que la felicidad que dice sentir en ese momento final de la película es la felicidad de un padre que ahora podría darle mejor cuidado a su hijo, la felicidad de un hombre que ve que sus esfuerzos valieron la pena, un hombre que por fin podría rentar un lugar para vivir con su hijo, que visuliza que sus días en albergues terminarían. Recuerden que el contrato que hizo millonario a Chris Gardner vino mucho tiempo después de eso.
En ese momento final de la película Chris Gardner se siente feliz, muy feliz porque finalmente había alcanzado la meta propuesta y sabía que podría vivir mejor con su hijo. Esa felicidad o alegria es similar a la que sentimos usted o yo cuando por ejemplo alcanzamos un logro académico, o la felicidad de salir airosos de una enfermedad, de alcanzar una meta propuesta, de ver felices a nuestros hijos, la felicidad que sentimos al compartir con nuestros seres queridos, la felicidad de comprar un bien deseado, una vivienda. El nacimiento de un niño, la llegada de una persona que extrañamos, la felicidad de hacer algo que nos gusta, la felicidad de estar en paz con Dios, tener armonía, sosiego en el corazón. Todo depende de su necesidad, lo que le haga feliz. Para un enfermo es la salud, para el que está solo la compañía, para el que lucha con sentimientos de culpa es el perdón. La felicidad o el gozo es también presentado en la Biblia como un fruto del espíritu, el fruto de un caminar con Dios, de una relación de fe y esperanza.
Tú me enseñas el camino de la vida; con tu presencia me llenas de alegría; ¡estando a tu lado seré siempre dichoso! (Salmo 16:11).

This life story shows us how dramatic an experience can be at a moment in life and at the same time shows us how things can change in an extraordinary way as a result of effort, perseverance, resilience and the will to move forward in the midst of the most adverse circumstances. "In Search of Happiness" is the title, but what is happiness?
Lack of resources for Chris Gardner was the reason for living on the streets with his son for a year, the most terrible year of his life. He slept in a public restroom, on the bus, in the office, in shelters or welfare places. The money was not enough to pay a rent where she could live with her little boy, with what she could get she could barely feed herself, it was a very difficult situation. But the amazing thing is that this was happening and was apparently unknown to others.
He would take his son to daycare and go to work, putting all his effort into being the best at the training he was receiving. He was not discouraged, he continued and spoke confidently to clients, with conviction, I believe he had strong enough emotional intelligence and resilience that he was able to stay afloat in those circumstances. He was not ashamed to speak to people with a lot of money when he had absolutely nothing. A tireless worker, he smiled at his clients, he conveyed confidence.
He kept his faith in God alive, in the film he is seen worshipping the Creator, entrusting his life to Him. He treasured thoughts, values, beliefs that allowed him to emerge victorious. A very intelligent, capable man, who despite the circumstances struggled not to lose confidence in God and in himself, remember the scene of the rubik's cube, -I can- he said and he was able to do it.
Eventually his life changed and a lot. In the final scene of the film, at the moment when he is notified of his continuity in the job, when he is told that he was selected, he expresses such a strong emotion that the character acts as if he does not know what to do, whether to cry, laugh or scream, he feels that special moment, and that is when he says that he calls that moment happiness.
On one occasion in an interview the real Chris Gardner expressed " That there is no relationship between money and happiness", he also said that "happiness is an internal component". I believe that the happiness he says he feels in that final moment of the movie is the happiness of a father who could now give better care to his son, the happiness of a man who sees that his efforts were worth it, a man who could finally rent a place to live with his son, who sees that his days in shelters would be over. Remember that the contract that made Chris Gardner a millionaire came long after that.
In that final moment of the movie Chris Gardner feels happy, very happy, as happy as you or I can feel when we reach an academic achievement, or the happiness of overcoming an illness, of reaching a proposed goal, of seeing our children happy, the happiness we feel when sharing with our loved ones, the happiness of buying a desired good, a house. The birth of a child, the arrival of a person we miss, the happiness of doing something we like, the happiness of being at peace with God, having harmony, peace in the heart. Everything depends on your need, what makes you happy. For a sick person it is health, for a lonely person it is companionship, for a person struggling with feelings of guilt it is forgiveness. Happiness or joy is also presented in the Bible as a fruit of the spirit, the fruit of a walk with God, of a relationship of faith and hope.
You teach me the path of life; with your presence you fill me with joy; being at your side I will always be happy (Salmo 16:11).
