Qué es tener un espíritu de servicio?. Se me ocurre definirlo como la disposición a hacer algo por alguien o por otros de forma desinteresada. En la naturaleza encontramos muchos ejemplos de servicio, todo en la naturaleza da , entrega, sirve. La tierra nos da sus frutos, los frutos de la tierra nos alimentan, son para nuestra subsistencia, las flores nos dan sus aromas y sus hermosos colores, el sol nos da luz y energía. Hay una entrega, una disposición de dar a otros. El servicio es una ley de vida, es preocuparse por el bienestar de los demás, accionar en favor de otros de forma desinteresada.
Hay felicidad en el servicio, se siente uno bien consigo mismo, llena el corazón de satisfacción, de sentimientos de alegría y contento. El servicio podemos darlo de muchas maneras y en muchos entornos. En el hogar cuando anteponemos las necesidades de otros antes que las nuestras, entregando nuestros esfuerzos, energía y tiempo para que todo funcione y nuestra familia esté bien. En el trabajo cuando estamos dispuestos para apoyar, ayudar o solidarizarnos con el que necesita una mano colaboradora. En nuestra comunidad sirviendo al vecino, al amigo, siendo tolerantes, amables, colaboradores, serviciales. En la iglesia participando y colaborando, dando un servicio de amor.
Aunque por lo general nuestro servicio pasa desapercibido y no se espera reconocimiento por este, ni recompensa alguna, a veces somos sorprendidos con un halago, una palmada, un sentimiento de gratitud, un momento de aprecio o incluso un reconocimiento público como recibimos varias personas en la iglesia el sábado pasado donde se nos entregó un reconocimiento por abnegado servicio.
Me emocioné, muchos no sabíamos de esta sorpresa, a pesar de que he recibido a lo largo de mi vida varios reconocimientos en la parte académica, laboral y también la eclesiástica, nunca había recibido uno con esta categoría Abnegado servicio. Este reconocimiento fue entregado por el servicio prestado en la iglesia a lo largo de los años en distintos departamentos de la misma. En mi caso colaborando en el Ministerio Infantil, el Ministerio de la Mujer y la Escuela Sabática mayormente. Fué un momento emotivo pues se celebraba los 100 años de constitución de la División Interamericana de la Iglesia Adventista, había mucha gente, ni idea tenía yo que entregarian ese día reconocimientos especiales a algunas personas por su labor.
Hubo personas que recibieron además del reconocimiento del diploma un botón, como el Dr. Prada quien con su especialidad de Cardiología ha ayudado y brindado tanto apoyo en los servicios sociales que se han hecho en las comunidades y también el apoyo brindado a los miembros de iglesia. Excelente ser humano y especialista. Así también fue entregado el botón a otras personas cuyo servicio en favor de otros a sido muy valioso.
Dios nos da muchas posibilidades de servicio en todos los entornos de nuestro diario vivir y si hacemos de esto una regla de vida como se da en la naturaleza fluirán de nosotros sin darnos cuenta esas acciones que son bendiciones para alguien más. Necesitamos ser buenos observadores, no tenemos que ir muy lejos, a nuestro alrededor, entre nuestros familiares y amigos podemos tener nuestro circulo de acción.
"Y respondiendo el Rey, les dirá: De cierto os digo que en cuanto lo hicisteis a uno de estos mis hermanos más pequeños, a mí lo hicisteis".( Mateo 25:40) Todo servicio dado con amor es un servicio a Dios.

At home when we put the needs of others before our own, giving our efforts, energy and time so that everything works and our family is well. At work when we are willing to support, help or show solidarity with those who need a helping hand. In our community serving our neighbor, our friend, being tolerant, kind, cooperative, helpful.
