Hello lovely Hiveans !
During Eastern I went out for a walk with the kids. We had 22°C here, the sky was clearly blue, there was only a slight wind blowing and best of all, I had holidays 🥳
Hello lovely Hiveans !
Spring fully arrived here in Wallis. The snow already melted away to a point, that only the tips of the visible mountains are covered .. Still there are mountain ranges behind them, that are even higher and will stay snowy the whole year. The brownish colour also faints away and finally makes place for greenish appearance 🤗
The Wallis is full of hiking routes in the mountains, as well as the valley. Thus, there are many nice ways that you can take. I packed the baby in the trolley, grabbed my other son, and we just ventured out for a three hour hike 😁
As spring started and the flowers are in full bloom, we saw them everywhere. Thereby, we figured out that, although there are flowers just everywhere, there are only four different species around. I found it a bit weird, but I loved them nevertheless and their combination fits really nicely together. Here are the 4 species, that make more than 90% of the overall occurrence in Wallis 👍
Four Flowers
Here is a little impression of how the mixture of these four flowers, that I show later in more detail, looks like 🤗
Beautiful, isn't it ? I never thought that the spring in Wallis would feature such a beautiful sight everywhere 👀 I love it and expects all coming hikes to feature amazing nature everywhere.
Mountains, lakes, waterfalls, beautiful flora and more. This combination is just breathtaking. My two boys will definitely raise up and life in a paradise like place 😍
Dandelions
Dandelions (Taraxacum sect. Ruderalia) can be found just everywhere here. There is probably no larger green area with has none.
As there is a high risk of fire up here in the mountain range due to high dryness, people are watering the green areas with lots of water as a precaution.
Everywhere, where they are doing it, the Dandelion density is extremely large. They are super easy to blossom and decorate the green fields nicely with a little touch of yellow colour 😍
Grengjer-Tulips
There is actually a species of Tulips that is only found in the Wallis and nowhere else in the world. It is the Grengjer-Tulip (Tulipa Grengiolensis).
This tulip comes in different colours and it is a real eyesight when you wal this region. It can be found as often as the dandelions, but not in that quantity.
I really love this one and in the future I will dedicate this special flower of the Wallis an own post where I will describe it and the her history in far more detail 🌷
Lavender
Besides these two already very beautiful and special flowers there is also a lot of Lavender (Lavandula) to be found here.
This nice purple colour creates wit the dandelions a beautiful purple yellowish basis to that brings so much life to the local meadows.
I know that lavender gives rise to a beautiful odor, so the meadows will not be only beautiful, but also smelling awesome, hehe 😁
White Daffodil
Another Flower, which complements the others with its snow-white colour, is the White Daffodil (Narcissus).
From all these flowers, these feature the minority, but in-between the others, their white colour really stands out.
I even managed to picture one with a little visitor on it 😉
