Hello Everyone
On this occasion I'd like to share you macro pictures with the hoverfly as the object. This hoverfly has a broad, mainly black body. It has two wings that are transparent, as with most flies, but the leading edge is amber, with a brown patch on each wing.
The hoverfly with latin name Volucella pellucens is about 13–17 mm in length, with a wing length about 10–15.5 mm.
This species much found in Europe, and across the Palearctic to Japan. The adult Volucella pellucens is usually found in woodlands and wooded hedgerows, but will enter gardens.
These flies at first glance look like bees or wasps in shape and color. This then protects them from being preyed upon by birds and other insectivores who avoid eating wasps because of their sting.
However, the difference between hoverflies and wasps or bees is that hoverflies have two wings, and Hymenoptera species have four wings.
Hoverflies usually inhabit meadows close to forests. These hoverflies are common throughout the world and can be found on all continents except Antarctica. No wonder I can found it in my place today and share it with all of you.
