Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to share a few photos from a trip that my wife took to a farm!

Bovine Monochrome Monday

Cows - one of the most important animals on the planet, let's be honest.

They fart, they grow, they provide milk, they provide meat. They provide hundreds of products from a single animal. If you ever think of why they are pushing some horse shit "green" agenda where they eliminate cows, it's purely evil. These are absolutely wonderful and CRUCIAL creatures. They serve so many functions, it's remarkable. Not a single thing on a cow gets wasted. Skin goes to leather, bones get crushed to gelatin, hooves get turned into gelatin, random bits and pieces get turned into dog chew toys. It's wild how important they are for the human species.

It's important, in my opinion, that we get back to a point where we revere them and appreciate them because they serve so many purposes for us. Not in the weird vegan delusion where they think it's a crime to harvest them for these various goods, but more in the way the Native Americans revered their cousins the Bison.

They knew that they were such an important animal for them as a species, providing food, shelter, grazing the grass lands and maintaining the soils. These are truly incredible animals.

Since we go to farms a lot, we get to spend more time around cows than I think the average American living near cities does. It would be cool one day to own a couple heads of cattle myself, but one step at a time. I will likely start with chickens.. lol

The cows are truly fascinating animals though. They are incredibly smart but also incredibly curious! They were clearly enamored with my wife and son, checking them out but also keeping a distance. Seemingly this mumma here is the alpha female, as she is the one who gets closest to them to give them an inspection. We can't be delusional though, they are feisty shits! They will fuck you up with a kick if you aren't careful, which is a good thing.

What I love to do when we go see cows at one of the farms is give them some nice scratches. Since cows are out in the fields, shitting all over the place, there tends to be a lot of flies sadly. This means they get bit a LOT throughout their day and that's annoying for sure. If a cow is friendly enough to come over, I make sure to give em a nice bit of scratches on the back and the side! They love it because it's harder for them to get to these locations, so they lean right into it. I've seen some great videos where people install scratching posts and they go nuts over them.

With the cows, I think a favorite style of mine with these black and white varieties is to flip the photos into black and white. It gives it a very mid-western feel to it, even though we are far from that geographically and chronologically. It's funny, some of the photos look like the cows are in a band or something and they are letting their lead singer get out in front while they are jamming out in the background.

Farms are those places that make us forget how complicated life is, seeing the animals, the trees, even the wet earth on some occasions is a way to feel happy, happiness, something so ephemeral that we should take advantage of it when we have it.
I wish you a happy night

A cow in black and white looks quite more dashing 😂😂😂

Yeah it's way cooler in black and white!

Those Holstein?

Yeah I think so! I couldn't recall the name. I was going to say Heifer but that's wrong lol

Yeah, I was going to say that too, then I remembered that's just a female cow I think.

Ah, so lucky that you got to pet them! I always pull over when I see cows standing by the fence, but every time I approach them they all back up 😅 I actually stumbled upon wild cattle while out west -- can you believe it was the calves trying to work up the courage to approach me?!

Your introduction is spot-on, by the way. There's a reason why they're sacred in India; cows are vital to our existence. I don't think a more perfect animal exists, except for maybe the pig, in terms of tasty meats 🤤😋

But anyway, thank you for sharing!

Yeah we have a lot of farms where we see more tame cattle. There are plenty of cattle that would rather us fuck off then disturb them, but these ones have friendly ones out in the pastures lol so we approach them.

That's really cool, we've never gotten the chance to see cows hanging out in the woods like that! We always see them in grasslands which is cool, but it's interesting seeing them roaming around the wooded areas. I wonder if their milk and butter tastes any different with them being in the wooded area. Pretty cool!
