Greetings friends, how attractive are cities when it rains? Many people are encouraged to take pictures when the day is sunny, blue skies and lots of colors but I really feel more encouraged when the weather is cloudy, rainy or foggy, I think it is one of the most attractive scenarios to capture the city and express it in a different way.
The intersection between Diagonal Norte and Calle Florida is an example of this. I was visiting the area last week and I didn't miss the opportunity to take some street photos in Moody style, dulling a bit the tones, accentuating others and highlighting the important and attractive buildings that have a great classic and old architecture.
Saludos amigos! ¿Que tan atractivas son las ciudad cuando llueve? Muchas personas están animadas a tomar fotos cuando el día está soleado, cielos azules y muchos colores pero yo realmente me siento más animado cuando el clima está nublado, lluvioso o con neblina, creo que es uno de los escenarios más atractivos para capturar la ciudad y expresarlo de una forma diferente.
La intersección entre la diagonal norte y la calle florida es un ejemplo de esto. Estuve visitando la zona la semana pasada y no deje pasar la oportunidad para hacer algunas fotos de calle en estilo Moody, opacando un poco los tonos, acentuando otros y destacando los importantes y atractivos edificios que tienen una genial arquitectura clásica y antigua.
There are many of these buildings here, such as the Bencich building where you can appreciate its twin domes, the old building where the Aeropostal offices were located, the Cathedral station of the D line and the impressive headquarters of the Chinese bank ICBC.
Returning to the photographic aspect I should mention that I have learned that depending on the results and the style of photos we want to take, it is necessary that the environment and the scenarios often occur naturally, I think they are special moments to take pictures and look more attractive.
Hay muchos de estos edificios acá, como el edificio Bencich dónde se puede apreciar sus cupulas gemelas, el antiguo edificio donde funcionaba las oficinas de Aeropostal, en las cercanías se encuentra la estación cabecera Catedral de la línea D y el impresionante edificio sede central del banco chino ICBC.
Volviendo al aspecto fotográfico debo mencionar que he aprendido que según los resultados y el estilo de fotos que queremos hacer es necesario que el ambiente y los escenarios muchas veces se den de forma natural, pienso que son momentos especiales para tomar fotos y que se vean más atractivas.
A very interesting aspect is that we can take pictures with low angles, flush to the ground or use the wide angle mode when we focus on buildings, this gives us another point of view completely different. It should be noted that these photos were taken with my phone, I would have liked to have my camera at hand but I know that even with a phone you can get very good results.
With this I encourage people who are starting in the world of photography that the most important thing is imagination, wanting to learn and take many many photos. Practice will make you get better every day.
Un aspecto bastante interesante es que podemos hacer fotos con ángulos bajos, al ras del piso o usar el modo gran angular cuando enfocamos a los edificios, esto nos da otro punto de vista totalmente diferente. Cabe destacar que éstas fotos las tomé con mi teléfono, me hubiese gustado tener mi cámara a la mano pero sé que incluso con un teléfono se puede conseguir resultados muy buenos.
Con esto animo a las personas que están comenzando en el mundo de la fotografía que lo más importante es la imaginación, querer aprender y tomar muchas muchas fotos. La práctica los hará mejorar cada día.
Now that I'm thinking about it, it would be very useful to create a post/tutorial about some recommendations to keep in mind for photography with phones, some angles, perspectives, use in manual mode. I hope I don't forget about it as my mind is not very good 😅
