Urban Night Portraits w/ Mary.
A few weeks ago I was contacted by a girl who belongs to a musical group, she wanted to do an urban photo shoot to promote a single they are recording, so they wanted recent photos, colorful with very flashy backgrounds, so we started to talk and propose some ideas and the place where we could do this session. They are three sisters, they make very good music, they sing and play very well. The most curious thing of all is that they are also from Venezuela and both they and I were born in the same state, we met here in Buenos Aires.
Returning to the subject of the session, after talking for a while we decided to do the session on Avenida Corrientes and Avenida 9 de Julio. It had to be at night since this area has a lot of LED screens where they broadcast advertising, so we could have a lot of colors and lights to play with.
The first one was Mary, we found ourselves in front of a McDonald's, a corner very illuminated by its large screen and we decided to start in that same place doing some tests. To start I wanted to use the 85mm lens with an aperture range of f1.8 to f5.0 and ISO levels of 800 to 6400.
The connection between them and I was really special, in such a way that it didn't feel like a formal production. I could describe it as a night of fun and photos, this generally happens when you meet people from the same country. I already knew that they had worked as models in previous sessions, I assumed they would have some experience and I was right.
There were very few instructions that I gave Mary during these first takes, generally everything was very natural.
I remember that that day was Saturday night, this part of the city is always a disaster in terms of activity, many people, street musicians, so there were different distracting elements. We had to wait a few minutes before shooting again between every shot.
We were walking from one side to the other looking for good places, lights and interesting backgrounds for different portrait themes, so there are many more photos that I have to edit to share with you.
The musical group is called Zarady, those who wish can enter their profile and appreciate the music and talent they have.
That's all folks! Thanks for stopping by and appreciating.
