I walked towards them and tried my best to explain the situation and why I would need to go back to my village to get the herbs that could save Abin but I could see the doubt on the chief's face.
"Your Father's love clouds your judgment Misa, This Topat knows our caves and secrets, there is no way we can let him go" Zilad replied with a rather serious tone.
Zilad turned towards Misa and then subsequently looked at Abin who was lying almost lifeless, He bowed his head in reverence and walked out of the room, I saw him whispering something to the guards standing at the door.
Momentarily, the guards walked towards me and escorted me to my chambers, I never actually got to speak to Abin, The only thing he whispered to me was incoherent and without meaning at the time, I took a glance at Misa as I left the room, I've never seen an Orktarg cry but I saw one that day. It seems that is one thing we all have in common.
As I laid down in my resting chambers, I took a deep breath of tensed air, I observed the sun rays peeking into the room falling lower with the sunset. My mood fell with the daylight as I didn't see any way out of this perilous ordeal, I wondered what Abin tried to whisper to me earlier.
Suddenly I heard some shuffling noises outside the room, I looked up to see some tall slender figure dressed in a dark hooded cloak, my breath shorten as this person approached but I felt relieved when I realized it was Misa, her face was slightly revealed by the dim-lit lamp she was holding.
"Oh, Misa!" I spoke with haste.
"Shhhh... Come now, Thorak, you must leave this place" Misa replied while pulling me out of the room.
I could observe as she took erratic glances around the area, usually, there were some guards stationed at the entrance but they were nowhere to be found, I had no idea how she lured them away but it seemed she was freeing me.
I followed behind in her shadow like a rag-doll as she pulled me towards some secret passage-way within the caves, she even had to crouch down to get through the hole.
As we spent laborious hours quiet crawling through the caves, I wanted to ask her where she was taking me but I already sensed the reasons, There was no point in risking our discovery with unnecessary chatter, soon afterward, we approached an opening, it was littered with white fog and smoke, it looked like all the heat ventilation from the caves were converged in this area.
"Misa where are we going" I finally had to courage to ask.
I observed as Misa took off her hooded cloak, Although I was dumbfounded at the whole ordeal, I was slightly comforted when she slightly stooped and kissed my forehead as she covered me with her hooded cloak.
"Go quickly Thorak, follow the white smoke it will take you out of the caves, I trust you would come back with a cure for my father" Misa spoke in a somber mood.
I turned towards the trail of smoke and took one final glance at Misa who was now swiftly making her way back to the caves, I hoped she wouldn't get in any trouble on my behalf, she put such a huge trust in me and I wasn't willing to let her down.
I made my way through the caves with great care, following the fog directed by the air currents, Before long, I found myself at an opening welcomed by fresh air and the night sky lit by the stars.
I felt a huge relief but I knew my journey was only beginning, I had to get the Lobab root that would save Abin's life.
I climbed down the mountains with haste, following an eastern path towards my settlement, I briefly spotted some wandering torch lamps which I suspected to be Orktarg guards but I was relieved knowing that those lights were very far from me.
After seemingly long hours of trekking, my sore feet felt relieved as I felt the soft earth compared to the rocky grounds I had wandered all night, I realized I was close to home and the orange horizon moments before the sunrise also gave me some hope.
