I’ve got demons on the mind, or they have me on their mind.
Religious/spiritual traditions suggest that
Demons polish the truth path.
Only when one's path is true do the
demons come.
Which is to say, the higher we aspire to the Light, the more jealously shadows redouble their efforts to trip us up, keep us down, derail us.
I believe in life as Great Spiritual Warfare, where Good and Evil do battle over our souls.
What I mean by ‘demons’ are evil suggestions, our own inner weaknesses or bad habits that, if we’re not careful, might lead to our self-destruction.
Here’s a little poem I wrote where I try to make light of this rather heavy subject:
Feedings
Attending to demons can be
a little like raising infants,
you simply cannot accept
every kind invitation
Sometimes, you must stay home
and feed the hungry things
heaping mouthfuls of your flesh,
till they finally fall asleep.
Live carefully, friends. It might take one moment of inattention to slip and fall, metaphorically.
It can be a dangerous world out there…
