Hello, splinter-warriors. I hope you are doing well.
Today, I will share an iconic battle with strategic placements and unique monster selection which is why this post deserves to be on the top battle posts of today.
Without further ado, let's begin!
Battle Conditions
The mana cap is 57 and there are 4 summoners to choose from: Fire, Nature, Death, and Dragon.
Battle Rules:-
- Fog of War: All monsters lose the sneak, snipe, and opportunity abilities.
Keeping the battle rules and mana cap in mind, I knew that using a few high-damaging monsters in the back while keeping the tanky ones in the front would surely lead me to victory.
Battle Details
Let's start from my side:
Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in HP and Magic damage by 1 for all enemy monsters)(Level 5)
Tank: Harklaw(Ability: Immunity, Demoralize, Shield).
Magic Attackers: Cthulu(Ability: Cripple. Flying), Kain Hace(Ability: Blast, Deflection).
Ranged Attackers: Queen Of Crows(Abiliy: Close Range, Headwinds), Dhampir Stalker(Ability: True strike, Deaethblow), Zyriel(Ability: Weapon training, Life Leech, Divine Shield).
My strategy was completely demolishing his tank and the unit behind it in the first round but using monsters with blast, Life leech, cripple and true strike abilities. That way, I was guaranteed serious damage and high average HP. I used Queen because of her ability to reduce all ranged attackers' damage by 1 while my tank ability was to decrease the opposition's melee attackers' damage and further reduce the incoming damage by its shield ability.
My overall damage per round is 20 damage with 2 healing.
Now, the opposition's turn:
Summoner: Delwyn Dragonscale(Ability: *Increase in Magic damage by 1 for all ally monsters)(Level 8)
Tank: Djinn Chwala(Ability: Thorns).
Blocked Melee Attacker: Terraceous Hulk(Ability: Taunt, Void Armour).
Ranged Attacker: Runic Skyclaw(Ability: Flying).
Magic Attackers: Mycelic Splipspawn(Ability: Taunt), Goblin Psychic(Ability: Tank heal, Affliction), Magi of Chaos(No Ability).
His strategy was to direct all incoming attacks toward 2 of his monsters while 5 of his actionable monsters would charge toward my tank. His tank would receive healing while doing a thorns damage on my tank while his magic attackers would chip away at my tank's HP slowly but surely.
His overall damage per round is 12 per round with 2 healing.
Major Events
At the end of the round, the first monster to fall was his Terraceous Hulk.
At the start of the round, his only ranged attacker bites the dust and thus the game became 4 v 6.
After half the round passes, my tank finally falls making this a 4 v 5 thanks to his Magi of Chaos.
A few turns later, his other taunt attacker fell making it a 3 v 5.
At the start of the round, his only healer fell thanks to Kain's blast.
After half the round passed, his tank finally fell leaving his only magic attacker against my horde.
Finally, at the end of the round, his only monster falls.
Results
He could've kept his ranged attacker in the back since it had high damage. He assumed I would not have a summoner that would cancel out his summoner's ability and then some. So, once his tank and the unit behind it fell, the only monster with the highest damage on his deck became useless.
