Hello, splinter-folk. I hope you all are doing well.
Today, I will share a battle from last season in which I was extremely close to being in the Silver I, with a rating of 1520. This game highlights why one should have the right cards in their arsenal to try to win a battle that may seem easy to win but is tough when all your units are above a threshold.
Without further ado, let's begin!
Battle Conditions
The mana cap is 14 and there are 4 summoners to choose from: Water, Nature, Life, and Death.
Battle Rules:-
- Amplify: All units have amplify(Increases damage of all Retaliate and punishment abilities)).
- Fire and Regret: All units have return fire.
Keeping the mana cap, available summoners, and battle rules, I decided to go with the death summoner since it holds key monsters for victory and comes cheaply.
Battle Details
Let's start the deck deconstruction from my side:
Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in Hp and Magic damage by 1 for all enemy monsters)(Level 5)
Tank: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns, Heal).
Blocked Melee Attackers: Carrion Shade(Ability: Flying), Corpse Fiend(No Ability).
Melee Attacker: Uraeus(Ability: Sneak, Poison).
My strategy was to increase the length of my deck while having a sneak attacker at the back of my deck that had both shield and poison. I put the blocked attackers in the middle of my deck so the sneak attackers would not reach my tank. And lastly, I wanted to have a tank that could self-heal and have a way to do damage to the attacker, physically.
My overall damage per round is 9 with 3 healing.
Now for the opposition's deck deconstruction.
Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in Hp and Magic damage by 1 for all enemy monsters)(Level 2)
Tank: Xenith Monk(Ability: Heal).
Melee Attackers: Silent Sha-vi(Ability: Sneak).
Blocked Melee Attackers: Carrion Shade(Ability: Flying).
His strategy was to avert the incoming sneak attackers by the flying ability of Carrion Shade. He used a tank that had minimal damage and a healing factor. Lastly, he used a sneak attacker to try and thin out my numbers. So, he fully focused on having a healing factor and reducing damage taken overall while trying to attack from both the front and back.
His overall damage per round is 4 with 2 healing.
Major Events
After half the round had passed, his Shade got taken out by my Uraeus, thus it became a 2 v 2 as I had only 2 units making the attacks.
At the beginning of the round, my sneak attacker got taken out and boy was it disheartening.
At the end of the round, his tank was taken out and he was left with only 1 damaged dealer. My overall HP and damage and healing were overwhelming for his minute arrangement.
At the end of the round, his only unit got taken out by my tank.
Results
It was evident that his overall HP was much lower compared to mine not to mention the damage and healing factor per round. He just didn't have the right units in his arsenal to combat this low mana situation. Moreover, he had a low summoner level, that way all the monsters used were at a huge disadvantage.
I now realize he could've used the deadly Katrelba Gobsom of the Nature summoner. She would've deleted my units from the back and would've deleted my tank in an instant given that would've taken a chunk of the mana and would not be enough to combat my tank, fully.
