The voucher is a token in the game that was launched in 2021 when the Chaos Legion edition was revealed in the splinterlands game. Initially, the token got a good response from the community because it was offering some fantastic benefits however that was part of the promotional event but later on, things did not work well. It is because the utility was not good for this token and it was meant to be used only in case of promotion sales and we can avail certain percentage of discount with voucher tokens. It is still available whenever we use the voucher for any promotional sales in the game then the discount is provided but I think this is not sufficient for a token to survive in the market. There are very few events where we can use the vouchers and this is why this token has lost its value in the market. I still remember that in 2021 the value of this voucher was more than 21 hive but now its too low.
We earn voucher tokens for SPS reward as this reward is distributed through two tokens including SPS and vouchers. It's been a long time since I checked my voucher holding because I continue to accumulate whatever I earn but have no idea about the balance I am holding in my game account. Earlier I used to convert these voucher tokens into sps but now because the price is low hence I have not done it for long. Selling voucher tokens at this price is also not a good idea I think because of the low price and to be honest I don't see any value appreciation on this token because of the utility issue. A token price can appreciate if the demand is there in the market and it is dependent upon the utility but in this case, the utility is one of the issues which is why the demand is low for the token in the market.
There was some discussion that the voucher token is going to be removed and it is kind of sunset for this. I have seen some of the posts shared by different people so I thought of checking it and I can see a draft of the proposal in splinterlands.
This is the proposal that you can see and the voting will be closed in 4 days. I have also voted for the vouchers sunset because I believe that the game should not have so many tokens instead one or two is enough. Having so many tokens is confusing for the community and also difficult to manage for the game and this is why having fewer tokens with more utility is good and that is what the game has to think about.
This is the price for a voucher in the hive engine and it's slightly more than one cent which is surely a very low price for the token and there is not much demand in the market. If this token is sunset then it is good else the team must work on this to bring a better utility so that there can be more demand for this in the market having a token with less utility is not beneficial for the game ecosystem.
Let's see what happens with the voucher tokens in case of sunset or the increase of the utility in the market. I earn vouchers every day because I have 1 node validator license and it rewards. This node validator rewards me every day with SPS and vouchers but sadly the value of both tokens is low else this could have been a great reward.
