Hello everyone, the topic of this Splinterlands challenge is to help new players with tournaments.
Tournaments are a great way to start earning SPS, there may also be other prizes like DEC or cards, but most are SPS.
Let's see if anyone who enters and rents the cards needed to play the tournament will earn some SPS. You don't need to finish in the top 3 to win prizes, even the top 128 get some SPS. Of course, it won't be much, but something. Since this guide is for new players, let's assume that you don't have any cards, therefore you need to rent the cards needed to play.
First of all, to enter a tournament right now, you have to pay the entry fee which is in DEC, but it's not much compared to what you can get even in the last places. Let's take this bronze rebellion tournament as example. The entry fee is 50 DEC, right now it is 0.208 Hive, a total of $0.042 USD.
Also, 2000 Staked SPS is required, how much does it cost to rent? A total of 28 DEC (+1 DEC Bid Fee).
And finally you need to rent the cards, I know that when you don't have the cards, renting them one by one is very boring. So on Peakmonsters, one of the best if not the best, third-party Splinterlands market, there you can buy, rent, view your collection, and it has many more features. Just enter here https://peakmonsters.com/@aubryd/decks, there I made two decks to choose from the rebellion bronze tournament, one with the legendary cards to be more competitive, and another without legendaries, so it cost much less DEC to rent. This tool is very useful as it allows you to rent quickly, just click on Rent (at level), and it will automatically select the cheapest cards available.
The cards in black are the recent Hall of Legends promo cards, Delya 3 ranged power that can attack twice per round and Night Stalker, 3 melee attack power that has sneak. I don't put Elanor Bravefoot, because it costs around 20 DEC per day, much more compared to other cards. Also, if you are just starting to play, you need to get the new rebellion reward cards, mostly common, rare and epics, the legendaries ones of course help, but there only a few players who have them, so it's not necessary to have them to win.
Halfling Refugee, and maybe Olivia ( lvl 2) both epic cards, are very great in battles and are necessary to reach the top. Why? Halfling Refugee only costs 1 mana, and has 6 HP, 2 melee attack power, has a chance to not be able to attack but it doesn't matter, it still helps a lot. Olivia is also strong 'cause of her Mimic ability, maybe not so much in the bronze battles, because the units don't have many abilities but still in long battles she is pretty good.
Make sure you only rent for 2 days. Choose one of the decks that best suits you.
In summary, if you rent the deck: Rebellion, Bronze Tournament:
Entry Free = 50 DEC
2000 Staked SPS = 29 DEC
Bronze Cards = 235 DEC,
TOTAL = 314 DEC
In this case you must reach at least the top 17-32, to recover what you spent.
Let's see if you rent the deck: Rebellion, Bronze Tournament, no legendaries.
Entry Free = 50 DEC
2000 Staked SPS = 29 DEC
Bronze Cards = 146 DEC,
TOTAL = 225 DEC
In this case you also need to reach top 17-32, to recover what you spent, but this time you will earn more, since you spent less DEC on renting.
I know it's not much, but you still earn something, and of course the idea is to learn and go for the top. Those in the Top 1-4 get 100.8 SPS, that's almost a dollar. Of course, to reach the top, you need to rent the legendary cards.
This is just one of many tournaments, there are many more with a bigger prize pool. You should start with the easiest ones, learn the cards little by little, and then go for the bigger ones.
That's all for now, if you haven't played Splinterlands yet, you can join with my referral link. See you!
