Hello everyone, this time I will be participating in this Splinterlands Challenge, where I will show you a battle in the modern league using only melee units.
First, let's talk a little bit about Xenith Monk, one of the melee units I'll be using in this battle, a very good unit that costs 4 mana, excellent against magic.
Xenith will restore up to 1/3 of his maximum health (rounded down), as he has 8 health, he will heal himself for 2 HP per round.
At level 6, he gains the Void ability, taking 50% less damage from magic attacks.
And at level 8, he gains the Magic Reflect ability, returning 50% of the damage to the attacker when hit by a magic attack.
In this battle, in addition to only melee monsters being allowed, only units and summoners that cost 4 mana or less can be played due to the Little League ruleset. Additionally, monsters with sneak and opportunity ability wil lose those abilities, and attack normally.
Since only death and dragon elements were available, I opted for the summoner, Quix the Devious, its ability to reduce the attack of ranged attacks won't be useful here, but the -1 speed to enemy units is very useful, and I will be able to use the dragon element units.
In the first position, I used Xenith Monk as I say before he can heal himself and thats is enough to play him.
Then, I used two units that have the Reach ability, allowing them to attack from the second position, Shadow Snitch (which can also apply Afflicted to the enemy unit, preventing it from healing, and apart from that this unit has a higher chance to evade non-magical attacks), and Twilight Basilisk (which has a 50% chance to stun the enemy unit).
Vruz in the fourth position, who when defeated will give +1 stats to adjacent units. Then, Crypt Beetle which is the only playable unit in the modern format that has shield that costs 4 or less mana in the death and dragon element, will be very useful by taking 50% less damage from melee attacks.
And in the last position, to further reduce the speed of enemy units, Venator Kinjo.
In the first round, my Xenith Monk and the enemy Shadow Snitch took damage but survived. In the second round, the enemy Twilight Basilisk defeats my Xenith Monk.
In the third round, my Basilisk destroys enemy Shadow Snitch. In the fourth round, my Shadow Snitch defeats the enemy Basilisk.
In the fifth round, the enemy Vruz is defeated by my Shadow Snitch. Dhampir Infiltrator gains +1 to all stats due to Vruz's martyr ability. In the round 6, after many attacks from the enemy Dhampir, my Shadow Snitch is defeated.
In the seventh round, Dhampir once again defeats another of my units, this time Basilisk being the victim. In the eighth round, my Vruz due to its greater speed defeats Dhampir. After that, enemy Uraeus succesfully attacks Vruz and defeats it.
Thanks to Vruz's martyr ability, Crypt Beetle gain +1 to all stats, defeating Uraeus in the ninth round. And in the twelfth round, after some previous attacks, Beetle destroys enemy Xenith Monk, ending the battle.
Full Battle
This was a quiet battle, not so much because of the low mana units, but because of the Fog of War ruleset that removes the sneak and opportunity ability from units. So apart from the first unit position that could attack, only units with the Reach ability could do so. The opponent and I used similar units, the difference was that I used 1 unit with shield and another with slow; and the enemy had Dhampir who attacks twice per round and Uraeus, who can apply Poison. This time my defensive strategy worked better than the opponent's aggresive one and I was able to win the battle.
That's all for now, if you haven't played Splinterlands yet, you can join with my referral link. See you on the battlefield!
