Splinterlands Halloween event, New Player Experience challenge

in #hive-13323last month

Hello everyone, this time I'm going to participate in @thepeoplesguild latest challenge, which is to think of features or systems than can make the game more inviting, engaging, and rewarding for new players.

One idea to attract new players could be that new accounts created that buy the spellbook have the entire Chaos legion set for a season or maybe a month (these cards will be ghost cards), so they become more familiar with the game, and don't start with level 1 cards that right now, if they go into battle with those, they will be destroyed. An in-game tutorial for easily renting cards in Peakmonsters would also be great.

Apart from this, it would be nice for new and current players, events. In many videogames there are events, and I love it and I think many players like that, for example for this month, of course, the theme would be Halloween.

It could be something like this:

SPLINTERHOLLOWS

Starting October 1, you can choose any card an one death card to turn golden for the rest of the event (October 31). This will work even if you don't have the card at the time, for players who rent or buy regular cards.

This event will feature:

  • Trailer
  • Halloween Promotional Card
  • Missions
  • Exclusive Prizes

TRAILER

I don't have much to say about it, I just love trailers and I think a lot of gamers do too. So, why not? It could attract new players if it is well advertised.

HALLOWEEN PROMO CARD

This card will only be available on the market for purchase while the event is active, I would love to see the Headless Horseman as a card, of course it will be a death element, providing a terrifying new ability. And something that occurred to me while writing this and I liked, is that all players will have the promo card in their deck during the first season (from October 1st to October 15th), so players will be able to play it immediately. It would be great to see how it works.

MISSIONS

To encourage players to play and of course win, the player will earn candies to claim prizes.

Two candies for each win, but it will only work in the modern format, and you must be at least in the gold league. In the bronze and silver league, you can still win, but only one candy per victory. Unfortunately, this can't be done in the wild league, or maybe it can with some adjustments, but it would be a problem to see a lot of bots accounts trading wins.

And every day there will be a daily mission for 5 candies, it could be something like winning 5 battles, using at least 1 magic death unit. And every day it would vary.

EXCLUSIVE PRIZES

The prizes could be titles such as "The Candy Collector" for 2100 candies, and "The Halloween Master" for 2400 candies.

And for a reasonable amount of candy, you can chose any reward card from the rebellion set.

Also some scary avatars, and of course, you can exchange candies for some Dec, potions, glint, avatars, etc.

PENALTIES

If a player intentionally loses to win candy on other alternate accounts, the candy will be lost and the player will not be able to earn candy for the rest of the event. It can be a little difficult to determinate who is deliberately losing, so it might be a good idea to give players the option to report a player, and then the admins check to see if they take action.

What do you think? Did you like it?, I know there are many points that can be improved and maybe one day we can have this type of event in Splinterlands.

That's all for now, if you haven't played Splinterlands yet, you can join with my referral link, and I'll give you 450 DEC. If you do, let me know in the chat. See you!

LEO Power Up Day - October 15, 2024

Yo Aubry! Great submission here - thank you for taking the time to put this together! I love the holiday-themed ideas and especially the headless horseman (assuming he would battle for team Death!).

I love doing these challenges, thank you so much for the opportunity.
