Sharing with you, one of the battles I recently played and as part of this week's battle mage secrets weekly challenge. With focus on matches that is played with holy protection.
RULESET: Holy Protection
In the ruleset holy protection: All monsters have the divine shield ability. This rule on battle will reduce all damaged dealt to zero. Some important tips to remember here is that Divine shield gets replenished and is reapplied for resurrected members. And for offensive strategies, divine shield can be removed for multiple monsters by the use of blast damage (ability).

The choice of summoners shows a completely opposing view on how this battle will be carried out. Choosing Kelya Frendul and giving the +1 armor and +1 speed to all monsters works well with the Holy Protection Ruleset especially when dealing with physical damage lineup. My approach on the other hand is to dish out as much damage as possible once the divine shield is taken down. That's why I've chosen Obsidian which gives a plus 1 bonus magical damage.
The Lineup
I went for an almost all out magic lineup using the Unicorn Mustang as my tank, Mycelic Slipspawn as my off tank and source of magic damage, Regal Peryton is on the third position with its high speed and flying ability, Khmer Princess will provide me with some added magic damage, and Goblin Psychic on top of dishing out damage will provide support and heals for my tank, the Child of the forest completes my lineup in the backlines which will be giving out ranged damage..
The opponent has chosen an armor defended lineup. Diemonshark has 6 armor to start with trample ability can easily clear the frontlines., the Flying Squid has high HP with reach ability, Venari Wavesmith has the protect ability which further boosts armor by an additional 2, Riverboat Captain has the blast ability which can clear out divine shield ability for multiple monsters at once, Scavo Hireling will repair damaged armor , and dealing ranged damaged would be the Kulu Swimhunter.
Round 1
Round 1 started with an exchange of attacks from all capable monsters. However, not much damage was dealt on some of the monsters due to the divine shield still being in play. This round was more of removing the shield applied to all monsters. However, since my lineup is focused on dealing damage on the first position the Diemonshark was taken out by the Goblin Psychic and was eliminated from play. The unicorn mustang had sustained some damage but was healed back to full health due to the tank heal of the goblin psychic. The flying squid moves to first position by the end of the first round.
Round 2
I've managed to gain the upper hand by the end of this round. My damage output was enough to take out the flying squid. My tank which is the unicorn mustang continues to remain at high health and is easily going back to full health due to the tank heal of the goblin psychic. However, the Mycelic Slipspawn is getting too much damage. The taunt ability makes it the target of the 3 monsters Venari Wavesmith, Riverboat captain which also does blast damage that also hits my regal peryton. Adding to the mycelics difficulties is the Kulu swimhunter with high ranged damage.
Round 3
On the fifth turn on the third round. The venari wavesmith is down to just 1 health. It's in this turn that the mycelic slipspawn was taken out from play and unfortunately was unable to attack due to it having lower speeds.
By the 10th round, the venari wavesmith was taken out by the khmer princess. The river boat captain will now move to first position making it easier for my lineup. The Goblin Psychic willl also heal my tank back to full health for the next round.
Round 4
Starting the fourth round is my regal peryton attacking the riverboat captain and is quickly sent to the graveyard. It's down to a 2v5 matchup and my chosen lineup should have no problems cleaning up the remaining enemies.
Turn 6 and the scavo hireling was taken out by the khmer princess. My magic damage selection proves to be effective as it ignores armor.
Round 5
The final blow was dealt by the Regal Peryton to the Kulu Hunter securing my win.
