Hello! This post is for Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge. In this week, I will be writing about the Glint Shop, and what I recommend for new players to buy!

Introduction

Glint is a type of Token that is non-transferable by playing Splinterlands. Like SPS rewards, Glint rewards increase in higher leagues, and the SPS multiplier and Win Streak also affects the amount of Glint you get. You could spend those Glints in the Glint shop.

There are a lot of things that you could buy in the Glint Shop. It usually comes with 'Batches'; meaning that after you buy certain amounts of the same thing in 1 season, the cost increases.

Rarity Draws

Rarity Draws: Rarity Draws only give certain types of cards for each draw. For example, a Common Draw (Batch 1) costs 150 Glints, and it would give you 1 Common card. Commons and Rares are really cheap to obtain by this way, but Epics and Legendaries are a bit harder due to the pricing of the draws. Rares cost 750 Glint in Batch 1, while Epics are 7.5K, and Legendries are 35K.

My thoughts: Those draws are a stable way to get the cards, since they have less RNG factor to start with. The pricing, which I mentioned already, gets REALLY expensive when you head to higher Rarities, which means that it would be harder to max Legendries and Epics with limited Glints.

Loot Chests

Loot Chests: Loot Chests give you random prizes, including Reward Cards, Merits, Potions, Energy and Jackpot. Minor Chests in Batch 1 costs 200. Major Chests cost 1K, while Ultimate chests cost 4.5K.

My Thoughts: These Chests is a cheap way to get Energies, so I would be buying those for mostly Energies. Extra Merits and Cards are also nice, although sometimes it is more cheaper to buy those in Card Draws.

Titles - Exclusives

Exclusives: Splinterland is currently giving limited editions of Titles. You can only buy 'The Proven', costing 1M Glint, and 'The Veteran', which costs 2.5 Glint, since 'The Renowned' is Sold out. Those titles give boosts in Land.

My Thoughts: The Titles are really expensive to get, and I believe most of the players that could buy these already bought it. If you don't have Land, it is also not useful.

Others - Resources

Resources: You could also buy other Resources by Glints. Merits cost 200 Glint per 200 Merits, in Batch 1. Energy's cost varies between leagues, but in Diamond ~ Gold, it costs between 1.7K to 6.5K. Legendary Potions cost 80 Glint, while Alchemy Potions cost 100 Glint. Keep in mind that for Energy, Legendary and Alchemy Potions, there are no Batch limits, meaning that you could buy any amounts of it in 1 season.

My Opinion: Merits are useful to get, but the others are too expensive. For Merits, 2K glint gives you exactly 1 Glad pack which could be cheaper than the Chests! Energies are real expensive at higher leagues, and you would get potions anyway in chests.

My Approach

  • It is considered that the Major (and Minor) Chests give better rewards compared to the Glints, if you get the rewards based on your RNG.

  • I would be still buying the Chests, because the Energy Price even in Diamond III is too high, and the Chests are much cheaper, if you are lucky.

  • Ultimate chests are also good, but I don't have enough Glints to buy bunch of those, and it is too expensive to start with.

  • For card draws, I would be focusing on the Epics. You get many Commons and Rares by opening the Chests, but Epics and Legendries are uncommon. This set has a lot of powerful Epics (Olivia!), and the Legendries are not really appealing to me.
