Hello! This post is for the second entry of Social Media Challenge. For this week's battle, we have a high mana cost battle with different approach to the ruleset from both teams. There would also be the result of my 5th airdrop for rebellion.
The last Conflict ended a few days ago, and I forgot to claim it. So, when I logged on, I was really surprised to see that I actually got a card with having only 9 chances! According to the leaderboard, each chance has around 0.3% chance, so that meant that I had less than 3% chance to get this card.
I also invested in some Wagons a few time ago, mostly when Venka the Vile was introduced in the airdrop. Since than, I was not really lucky to get the jackpot until now.
I didn't try this card yet, but it looked amazing with both -1 speed and blind to start with. It would be good especially with Water element, since it has more faster units.
Battle Info
Rank: Novice Modern
Avaliable Type: Water, Earth, Dragon
Mana: 60
Blood and Sunder: All units have Corrosive Ward.
Briar Patch: All units receive the Thorns ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that use melee attacks receive damage back.
The ruleset was a little bit interesting. Due to the fact that not all cards can be used combined with being only level 1, it is really hard to make a team without using melee attack. The ruleset focuses on nerfing Melee attacks, with the two rulesets that is introduced in this game. As a result, you would be expected to use more Magic attackers, since Ranged attackers are only useful at the last place in the lineup.
My Lineup
Summoner: Quix the Devious. For the Summoner, I picked Quix the Devious. With the high mana limit, using high cost Dragon unit would be nice in this ruleset, as well as giving -1 ranged attack and -1 speed to all enemy units. The -1 ranged attack is especially special, because without melee attack and the high mana limit, they should be using at least one ranged attackers.
First position: Agor Longtail. For the Tank, I went with Agor Longtail. My plan was to put Agor Longtail at the front and some tank heal and Repair units at the back, so Agor Longtail can survive more longer. Although Blood and Sunder makes Void Armor a bit useless, it has high health so it would survive for at least a few rounds.
Second position: Oshuur Constantia. Then, to ensure that the backline units are more safer, I went with a unit with Resurrect, to revive a unit whether it is my tank or the backline units that got hit due to Scattershot ability from the enemy.
Third position: Ulundin Overseer. At first, I tried to put Scavo Hireling in this place for his repair ability. But, seeing that I still had a ton of mana left, I changed it to Ulundin Overseer. It is really tanky and with Tank Heal, it could be a second tank after Agor Longtail is taken down.
Fourth position: Daarg Deadblast. A really expensive card when it first came out, due to the fact that both Weapons Training and Swiftness ability is really strong. It is still going to be really strong in this game, since I used non-attacking units besides Daarg. The +1 speed is always beneficial in most cases.
Fifth position: Merdaali Guardian. As you can expect, I went with Merdaali Guardian. The higher level version of this card has Repair, but this is a Level 1 only tournament, so I would be using another unit with Repair instead.
Last position: Swamp Spitter. Lastly, as you can expect, I went with a Repair Unit. Void Armor on Agor Longtail makes Repair more powerful than usual.

Round 1
The enemy monsters were revealed and they had a different lineup. Although they used the same summoner, Quix, as me, they chose the Earth element, and thus, they did not have a strong tank. Thane Newsong is kind of weak compared to units with 10~ mana cost cards and it also does not give the right kinds of buffs in their lineup. They had a couple of strong cards at the back, but they seemed to be in a disadvantage from the start.
Round 1 started and we both were exchanging blows. Nothing really exciting happened in Round 1. Chaos Dragon's random Scattershot luckily went to Daarg Dearbeast, which has more than 3 health and therefore survived. Meanwhile, both their taunt and first unit was at low health.
Round 2
Round 2 started and it was obvious that Thane Newsong and Mycelic Slipspawn to be taken down by my team. Once again, their Chaos Dragon was not lucky enough and it hit Oshuur, which is not really that important in my lineup. Void Dragon's Void ability did help them a little bit by getting less damage from my team.
Round 3
They finally took down Agor Longtail barely, with the help of Chaos Dragon's attack and Thorn damage, which than got revived. by Resurrect.
Round 4~5
At this point, the game was basically over. With having not enough attack points to take down Agor Longtail. Chaos Dragon were taken down at Round 4, and the game was over at Round 5.
Thoughts about this battle
The battle was really nice for me. Whenever I use this kind of strategy, they always have a way to outsmart this lineup, such as Affliction, Jacek(Scattershot), Poison etc... In this battle, I was really lucky that none of the enemy monsters were countering this kind of lineup.
Thanks!
