Hello! This post is for Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. For this week, I will be ranking Soulkeep, a tower defense game that uses NFTs to play. Soulkeep is really fun when you play it, and you can also get SPS rewards. It is kind of hard to progress leagues, though. So, I will be mainly talking about lower leagues. Also, I will be talking about mainly Tournaments, since you earn SPS there.

This is the ranking of the Soulkeep Towers, and the tier is based on following:

S - Must have to play in Soulkeep Tournament / Main Leagues
A - "Good" Towers that is decent in any ruleset or map
B - "Ok" Towers that is playable but worse than A Tier towers
C - Not good towers that are only playable in certain ruleset or map, and unplayable in others
D+ - Unplayable but Slightly better than D tier towers
D - Unplayable.

S Tier

S Tier is towers that are must to play.

Voodoo Sapper: Voodoo is a must to play in Soulkeep Tournaments to rack up your points. Since extra mana gives more points, a perfect run with Voodoo and without Voodoo has a slight difference in points. That is the reason why Voodoo and Mana Mania is really good. However, Voodoo is especially weak in 3 Tower + Tower Lock ruleset, where you only have limited towers available.

Quad Killer: Quad Killer was considered one of the 'best' towers in this game, due to its ability that can shoot 4 units in 1 attack without any drawbacks, and the ability that it can hit Flying units. Flying fiends are a type of fiends that can only be hit by certain towers and spells, because they are flying...
It got a nerf afterwards, so you can only have 1 Quad Killer now. However, 1 is fine for easily running through the 'easy' maps. In more harder maps, it is still a good tower that can deal damage consistantly.

A Tier

A Tier is towers that are good to use mostly.

Knife Tosser: Knife Tosser is a really good short-ranged single target tower, particularly due to its second to low mana cost and good damage + good damage upgrades. It is really cheap and has a high usage of 4, so it can be used almost any map with 5 towers, and it is good against flying magical resistance units. Kind of downside is that it is too cheap, so it is not good against high HP units, because they don't deal that much damage. Also, it does Physical damage, which is weak against Caldrons. (physical resistance)

Jack's Joke: Jack's Joke is one of the best towers that deal splash damage. Similarly, you have Charnel Pit. However, Jack's Joke is better than it. It does magic damage instead of physical, which is efficient against Caldrons. It is also 5 mana cheaper than Charnel Pit, and it has 1 more uses which can be crucial in some moments.

Shock Therapy: I firstly overlooked Shock Therapy, with its high mana cost, and mainly the fact that it cannot hit flying units even with 180 mana because of Chain attack's limit. However, it is one of the best high-end towers that exist in this game. You can play the first one with Cheapo, resulting in high mana savings, and play the remaining during the last few rounds.

Shock Therapy is a 'chain' type of attacking tower, which means that if that target is still alive after hitting, the attack will chain to the next unit until it hits the maximum limit (which is 4 in Shock Therapy), multiplying the damage by the set amount of multipliers. That means that it is actually good against most kind of enemies (even Physical resistance).

B Tier

B Tier is towers that are worse than A but still usable.

Gloom Owl: Gloom Owl is the 'that tutorial thing' which is kind of the standard of the game. That kind of means that it is just playable. However, Gloom Owl has some major flaws: It is 5 mana higher than Knife Tosser, but it is more slower. Although it has 1 more uses and has higher damage, the plus side of Gloom Owl is not attractive enough.

Card Sharp: Card Sharp is weaker Magic version of Gloom Owl, which means that it deals higher magic damage and has higher mana cost. This tower is especially useful in lower leagues, where there is not a lot of magic resistance fiends. It is also nice in rulesets that favor Magic, and magic is usually considered better due to Caldrons.

Charnel Pit: Similarly, Charnel is weaker physical version of Jack's Joke. As already mentioned, it has 1 less uses and 5 higher mana cost, which is some reasons why it is worse than Jack's Joke.

Twisted Tempest: Twisted Tempest is a high range version of Card Sharp. It is kind of usable because single target towers can hit flying units, and Twisted Tempest can deal damage to them from long distance away. The mana cost is awkward with 90 mana, though.

Shattered Mirror: Shattered Mirror is nice with first ignoring all resistance, meaning that it deals direct damage like poison. You can use this in a ruleset where there is resistance ruleset. But, it has disadvantages like high mana cost compared to cost and low range for 125 mana.

C Tier

C Tier is towers that are worse than B.

Tarantula Loom: Being the cheapest tower, Tarantula is ranked at C, IF you play this without spawn lock. I don't know if spawn lock still exists, but spawn lock is that you use 2 or more Tarantula Looms to lock the spawner, which will produce a lot of fiends. This was one of the major issues during the first few months, as the spawned fiends give points. Now, without that, it is much weaker with some stun and some damage.

Fountain of Terror: Fountain of Terror is a high range single unit with physical attack, meaning that it is a physical version of Twisted Tempest. In general, you should be using Card Sharp or Knife Tosser + Spell; it is just more effective. It is kind of effective in Highland (League 3 map 2).

Slime Lord: Slime Lord is another type of slow splash towers. Usually in those tower defense games, slow towers play a crucial role against horde of enemies. Slime Lord is also effective against hordes, especially in Living Artillery (League 3 map 1).

Quakemaker: Quakemaker is another type of slow splash towers. It is also nice to use to substitute with Slime Lord, but it has too high mana cost. However its slow effect seems to be longer than Slime Lord though.

D+ Tier

D+ Tier is not useable, but still better towers than D.

Ivory Tower: Ivory Tower is one of the staple high-damage single target unit. Usually, these kinds of towers are not used since it is usually better to deal damage to multiple units, such as Quad Killer, Shock Therapy or Splash Towers like Jack's Joke, even if the damage is lower. However, Ivory tower is the cheapest so I put it in D+.

Dome of the Defiled: Similarly, Dome of the Defiled is also high-damage single target unit, except that it is Magic instead of physical, and it is 10 mana expensive. It also has same flaws as Ivory Tower.

Crystal Cannon: Crystal Cannon is kind of a weird splash tower; it is significantly slow, but it deals both Physical and Magical damage. However, I think that dealing damage like this is not good, because you are going to be easier to get resistance.

Amped Zapper: The more rarer (Rare -> Epic -> Leg) the towers get in Soulkeep, the more they get special skills. Amped Zapper is one of the towers that get the special skills. It is also 'chain' type attack like Shock Therapy, but it has maximum limit of 2, and the second fiend will get increased damage.

D Tier

D Tier is the 'bad' towers.

Nightshade Nest: A splash tower that is actually cheaper than Jack's Joke, which is the best splash tower. However, it has 1 major flaw: too slow. It is too slow that if the fiends are too fast, it could miss the attack entirely. Just use Jack's Joke.

Ice Viper: Ice Viper is a singular type tower with 'Poison' type. When they get poisoned, they get set amount of damage for some time. It is nice and also bypass resistance, but it is too expensive to use to bypass resistance, and similarly you have Shattered Mirror to use in high armor.

Prickler: Prickler is also a double type attack like Crystal Cannon that has both magical and physical attack, and it is also singular type. Seems bad already. In addition, being one of the slowest tower in the entire game and also not having a big range makes Prickler D tier.

Plague Scarab: Plague Scarab is the most expensive tower in this entire game currently, and it is also the worst. When using, it feels like it doesn't have the right kind of range for 200 mana. The ability is strong, with Poison(bypass armor) and Splash, but the weak points makes Plague Scarab bad.

Searing Vision: Searing Vision also has its own type of attack, and it locks on one single target and deals multiplying damage until it dies. However, for 180 mana it is not good against large hordes, like all other singular towers have.

Ending

Thank you for reading! This chart could change later due to balance changes, meta changes, league changes etc... I would really like to see the D+ and D tier towers some buffs, as they are currently almost not usable in 95% of the times.
