Hello! This post is for the entry of this week's Social Media Challenge by sharing one of my Tournament battles. In this post, we have a battle with a Novice mana cap, and a Wild format with various rulesets.
Battle Info
Rank: Wild Novice
Avaliable Type: Fire, Earth, Life, Death
Mana: 28
Equalizer: All units start with the same health, based on the highest health on either team.
Stampede: Trample will retrigger infinitely as long as the trampling unit keeps killing other units.
Corrosive Fog: When this ruleset is in play, all Units take 1 armor damage and lose 1 maximum armor each round.
In this battle, it was a low mana battle, with only 28 mana. 2 elements were not available, and there were Equalizer, Stampede and Corrosive Fog ruleset. It is unfortunate that Possibilius is not able in this game, because it has Stampede. Equalizer makes Corrosive Fog ruleset not much impacting the game. It is a Wild battle so there could be a lot of lineups available for me.
My Lineup
Summoner: Eternal Tofu. For the Summoner, I picked Eternal Tofu, the new Legendary dual summoner card. It gives +2 health, Snare and Thorns, and also gives 3 units Divine Shield and Corrosive Ward or a unit Triage and Scavenge. The later works especially well with Tank Heal / Heal / Life Leech and a bunch of other things, so I picked it.
First position: Shieldbearer. For the tank, I went and selected Arkemis the Bear. It has 2 melee and speed, and also has the highest health in both team's lineup which is 9. I specifically picked this card for the Taunt, because all units without scattershot would be targeting this card and not others.
Second position: Venator Kinjo. I selected a Reflection Shield unit, Venator Kinjo at the second position. I could've used other units that has buffs/debuffs, but just to be safe, I went with this.
Third position: Soul Fiend. Fiends are usually just a filter card, but in Equalizer, it could soak a lot of damage, so I tried to fit all 6 slots in my lineup.
Fourth position: Madcap Magus. Madcap Magus is probably one of the commoner Earth cards that has Life Leech in level 1. Combine it with Tofu's Triage and Scavenge, Tank Healers, Equalizer, Taunt and it would be really hard to defeat.
Fifth position: Wood Nymph. Beta Tank Healer 1. I used it instead of CL's Tank healers because of cheaper mana. Again, Tank Heal and Heal is good in Equalizer.
Last position: Divine Healer. Beta Tank Healer 2. Again, it has Tank Heal from level 1, and only costs 3 mana. It doesn't have attack, though, so I should've put it in front of Wood Nymph.
Battle Link: HERE
Round 1
The enemy monsters were revealed and they went with Lobb Lowland summoner that gives -1 speed to enemies and Conscript, allowing a gladiator, in this case Katrelba Gobson. They went with Melee heavy lineup, including an inspire unit and some Opportunity and Sneak units.
Nothing much happened in Round 1, as units have greater health, and my team has Tank Heal meaning it could survive longer, but it also has low damage output.
Round 2
Round 2 started and their units went first, because they had higher speed than my units, and taking Sheieldbearer down. Their Melee units are taking Thorn damage, gradually damaging their attackers. At this point, the Thorn damage might've done more damage than my Melee & Magic attackers.
Round 3~4
Now that my Taunt is removed, their Sneak attackers targeted my back unit, Divine Healer. However, their Katrelba Gobson was taken down by the Thorn damage in the process. The damaged Divine Healer was healed by Triage from Madcap Maagus.
Round 5~10
When it got to Round 5, the winners were already decided due to the fact that I had a lot of Tank Heal and Triage heal amount, and I took out their some crucial attackers by Thorn. At Round 5, their Uraeus, Battering Ram and Lurking Puffer got taken down, meaning that they only had 1 magic attacker and non-attacker left.
Round 11
Finally, after a couple rounds, their final unit got taken down. GG!
Thoughts about this battle
I used Equalizer with Healing abilities to use it to my advantage, by using one high health units and some other low health units. They did not have enough damage, and the Thorn from Tofu dealt with their stronger units.
Thanks!
