Hello dear Splinterlands Community, it is time for the Social Media Challenge!
Day by day we are getting closer to the release date of the 5th core card edition, Rebellion! It is not long before we can tear open our packs and look at all our goodies! We have been waiting impatiently for some card reveals and yesterday we finally got a sneak peak and a taste of what is to come!
So let's sneak a peak at 6 cards that were revealed in THIS Splinterlands post yesterday!
GOBALANO SOLDIER
I saw this card 3 or 4 days ago in a Bulldog video. At first glance I was put off by the background pattern and the general colour scheme but once I saw the other cards yesterday, I changed my mind about the new look card designs that await us. Everyone was speculating what the new ability Ambush would do but now we know: attack before the round begins! Other interesting details about this card is the low mana and Sneak, which fits very nicely into the fire deck. We have seen a lot of big hitting monster cards released over the past few months with giant mana cost and overkill capabilities, so it is very nice to see a low mana card here. I am looking forward to putting GOBALANO SOLDIER among my fire cards.
INFERNAL FIRESTORM
Here comes another fire monster, INFERNAL FIRESTORM. He also has a new ability, Ambush. This ability gives a melee tank behind it the Reach ability. Although this can mobilize big hitting fire melee cards that have little other use, I am not a big fan of big melee and prefer to concentrate on mid mana cards with niche abilities. This card looks good though and I like the fact that this brings another magic card to the fire deck. Also, this card has Demoralize which together with Molten Ash Golem and Disintegrator can render your opponent's melee attack to a toothless tiger. This is a nice looking card and I am getting used to the strong colour scheme of the new edition.
CHAOS ANIMATOR
Here comes CHAOS ANIMATOR! This is the sneak peak I am most excited about! Not only does this card look amazing, I am most interested in what new editions will come to my favourite deck, the death deck. First of all, CHAOS ANOMATOR has no attack, making her a candidate for Weapons Training, which itself will be rebuffed with the introduction of the Rebellion edition: Trained monsters will get the full attack capability of the training monsters and will maintain their attack after the Weapons Training monster has died. This is great news and because CHAOS ANIMATOR is a low mana card, I can think of multiple use cases together with RIFTWING. I also like Redemption which takes an extra health from all enemy monsters once the ANIMATOR departs. This is a great little card and I will be looking to level this one up very early for diamond league.
ANASTH SOOTHSAYER
ANASTH SOOTHSAYER, a water card, is the next peak we are sneaking. The 1 magic is not so exciting but this card comes with a bunch of abilities including another new one, Lookout. This ability gives adjacent monsters added protection again stealth attack. I am not sure if it protects against standard attack but I assume so. Dodge is nice but other than that this card doesn't make a big impression on me. Tank Heal is good in combination with Possibilus I guess but I don't think this card will feature in many of my battles. Not every card is a winner!
SUMMONER ZEDDICA
ZEDDICA is another great looking card and the first dual-element summoner we get to see. I am super happy to see a set of common summoners coming out after all those legendary summoners that have cost me a ton to get to level 4. Being able to use two splinters together in battle is super exciting and will make for a lot of new strategic thinking and matching which I am very much looking forward to. I really like low mana battles and low mana summoners opening up 2 Splinters (provided they are both available) is mindblowing to me! Yet I do wonder what happens in the Silent Summoners ruleset. I assume, the summoner can then only summon one splinter, I guess the one displayed at the top, in the case of ZEDDICA, it would be the water deck. I could be wrong so let's wait and see.
SUMMONER PROPHET ROSA
Last but not least there is PROPHET ROSA, the second new summoner type bringing new functionality: Summoner Tactics. Here, after both teams have been revealed, you can make a final adjustment before the battle begins. You can choose between giving 2 monsters +2 range or 1 monster the Shield ability. I find this also to be a huge and exciting new feature coming with Rebellion and I am looking forward to experimenting with it and developing new strategies, along with all the other new features coming on 5th December!
Splinterlands announced a number of things yesterday together with giving us a sneak peak at some new little darlings coming real soon, including screenshots of Summoner Tactics visuals and a glance at another new card that we know nothing about yet. The excitement is growing and so is my war treasury to unleash on Peakmonsters to buy stuff up when it all comes out. This time I have decided to keep pack buying to a minimum but I guess I will get caught up in the hype once all cards are known and appearing in battles.
Congratulations Splinterlands! You have put lots of new excitement into the game at a time when the bear market, recent bad organizational news and other strange developments have angered and turned away a number of veteran players. I sincerely hope that Rebellion will bring new players into the game to continue to make Splinterlands the best NFT card game out there!
See you in the arena, Splinterlanders!
