Greetings, dear Splinterlands community! It's always a pleasure to attend the weekly challenges that test our skills as summoners. This time we will face one of the newest rulesets in the game: Shadow of Gray. Let's see what it's all about.
Saludos apreciada comunidad de Splinterlands! Siempre es un gusto atender a los retos semanales que ponen a prueba nuestras habilidades como invocadores. En esta ocasión haremos frente a una de la rulesets más nuevas del juego: Shadow of Gray. Veamos de que se trata.
⚔️ Shades of Gray
This is a very special rule since it forces us to only use neutral units on the battlefield. So if we can't use elemental units, what happens to the summoners? Well, this is the only part where we can adapt our strategy, since we can choose any splinter, only the available monsters will be neutral.
Esta es una regla muy especial ya que nos obliga a sólo utilizar unidades neutras en el campo de batalla. Entonces si no podemos utilizar unidades de los elementos, qué pasa con los invocadores? bien, aquí es la única parte donde podremos acoplar nuestra estrategia, ya que podremos escoger cualquier splinter solo que los monstruos disponibles serán neutros.
Coeurl Lurker/Supply Runner/Dr. Blight
The arrival of the Chaos Legion and Riftwatcher editions have brought us extremely powerful neutral cards, my favorites and the ones I use the most are Coeurl Lurker, Supply Runner and the promotional Dr. Blight. However, this new rule has made me realize how few neutral cards I had in my deck, so one of the things I've started to do is reinforce my neutral cards.
La llegada de las ediciones Chaos Legion y Riftwatcher nos han traído cartas neutras en estremo potentes, mis favoritas y que más uso son Coeurl Lurker, Supply Runner y la promocional Dr. Blight. Sin embargo, esta nueva regla me ha hecho ver las pocas cartas neutras que tenía en mi mazo así que una de las cosas que he comenzado hacer es reforzar mis cartas neutras.
I have recently upgraded many of my neutral cards, cards like Disintegrator, Spirit Hoarder and Legionaire Alvar are neutral cards that I have been wanting to level up. My next neutral cards to upgrade/get are from the Riftwatcher edition, I still have a long way to go in this edition and I mean many months to complete a good deck with this edition. Rebellion is still very far away in my plans and I think this is a general feeling, that they rushed this edition too much.
Recientemente he upgradeado muchas de mis cartas neutras, cartas como Desintegrator, Spirit Hoarder y Legionaire Alvar son cartas neutras que tenia pendiente subir de nivel. Próximamente mis cartas neutras a upgradear/obtener son de la edición Riftwatcher aun tengo mucho que avanzar en esta edición y me refiero a muchos meses para completar un buen mazo con esta edición. Rebellion aún esta muy lejos en mis planes y creo que este es un sentimiento general, que se apresuraron demasiado en sacar esta edición.

The battle rules that complement Shades of Gray are Super Sneak and Weak Magic with a mana limit of 24. Here the splinter we choose will only dictate the type of summoner we can use since the eligible monsters must be neutral.
Las reglas de batalla que complementan a Shades of Gray son Super Sneak y Weak Magic con un límite de mana de 24. Aquí el splinter que escojamos sólo dictará el tipo de invocador que podremos usar ya que los monstruos elegibles obligatoriamente serán neutros.

🧙♂️Summoner/Invocador: Camila Sungazer
When the battle rule is Shades of Gray, the options for setting up a fairly effective lineup are quite limited, but the presence of the Super Sneak rule gives us an idea of the opponent using an entirely melee strategy towards the rearguard. So we will nullify their ability to do damage using Camila Sungazer who reduces melee damage by -1, now all that remains is to define an impregnable lineup.
Cuando la regla de batalla es Shades of Gray se limitan bastante las opciones de configurar una alineación bastante efectiva, pero la presencia de la regla Super Sneak nos da una idea de que el oponente utilice una estrategia enteramente melé hacia la retaguardia. Así que anularemos su capacidad de hacer daño usando a Camila Sungazer que reduce el daño melé en -1 ahora solo queda definir una alineación inexpugnable.
👾 Monsters/Monstruos: Onyx Sentinel
We will raise our defenses with a literal Wall, Onix Sentinel is resistant to melee and magic damage, although it does not perform any type of attack, it has the Thorns ability for melee attacks, we place it in this position because our interest will be to attack towards the rear.
Levantaremos nuestras defensas con un Muro literalmente, Onix Sentinel es resistente al daño melé y mágico, aunque no realiza ningún tipo de ataque cuenta con la habilidad Thorns para los ataques melé lo ubicamos en esta posición porque nuestro interés será atacar hacia la retaguardia.
👾 Venator Kinjo
Venator will help us in this battle more as a support than as an offensive card, we will use his Slow ability to slow down our enemy and be able to attack first.
Venator nos ayudará en esta batalla más como un apoyo que como una carta ofensiva, utilizaremos su habilidad Slow para ralentizar a nuestro enemigo y poder atacar primero.
👾 Creeping Ooze
In the same way as Venator, this card has the purpose of slowing down the enemy even more and although its low life makes it an easy target for possible cards with the Opportunity ability, I hope to do enough damage with the first attack.
De la misma manera que Venator, esta carta tiene el propósito de ralentizar todavía más al enemigo y aunque su baja vida lo haga blanco fácil de posibles cartas con la habilidad Opportunity espero hacer el suficiente daño con el primer ataque.
👾 Elven Cutthroat
There are not many melee cards that I have in the neutral class and it is something that I must improve in the next months, many of my cards are low mana and already have the sneak ability, one of them is Elven Cutthroat, we will use it mainly for its damage and speed.
No son muchas las cartas melé que tengo en la clase neutra y es algo que debo mejorar en los próximos meses muchas de mis cartas son de bajo mana y que ya tienen la habilidad sneak, una de ellas es Elven Cutthroat la usaremos principalmente por su daño y velocidad.
👾 Uraeus
Uraeus is the next offensive card, it also has the sneak ability but it has the advantage of having the poison ability so it can poison the enemy from the rear and speed up the opponent's fall.
Uraeus es la siguiente carta ofensiva, tambien tiene la habilidad sneak pero tiene la ventaja de tener la habilidad poison por lo que puede envenenar al enemigo desde la retaguardia y acelerar la caida del oponente.
👾 Hydra
Hydra is our last unit and the fundamental pillar of our strategy. This neutral card can not only heal itself and have the Thorns ability, but it also has a very convenient ability for this battle: Retaliate! This ability gives it the ability to execute an attack if it receives melee damage. This way, it would deal double damage to the opponent: Thorns and Retaliate.
Hydra es nuestra última unidad y el pilar fundamental de nuestra estrategia. Esta carta neutra no solo puede sanarse y contar con la habilidad Thorns, sino que es poseedor de una habilidad muy conveniente para esta batalla: Retaliate! Esta habilidad le confiere la posibilidad de ejecutar un ataque si recibe daño melé. De esta manera se le haría un daño doble al oponente: Thorns y el de Retaliate.
⚔️Strategy and battle lineup/Estrategia y alineación de batalla
When sending the battle, we can see that the backbone of our opponent is the Tatiana Blayde gladius card, since it is very well protected between Clockwork Aide and Dumacke Orc. With a combined attack, that gladius card is really dangerous, so let's see how this battle develops.
Al enviar la batalla podemos observar que la columna vertebral de nuestro oponente es la carta gladius Tatiana Blayde ya que la tiene muy bien protegida entre el Clockwork Aide y Dumacke Orc. Con un ataque combinado esa carta gladius es realmente peligrosa, veamos entonces como se desarrolla esta batalla.

💥Round 1💥
In the first round we can see how our strategy works with Hydra, it receives the combined attack of Tatiana Blayde but the consequence is that it receives the damage of Thorns and Retaliate together which is too much and ends up being dispatched immediately. Later Dumacke Orc attacks Hydra and history repeats itself, he loses his shield with the Thorns and is eliminated with the Retaliate, leaving this battle virtually decided.
En el primer round podemos ver como funciona nuestra estrategia con Hydra, recibe el ataque combinado de Tatiana Blayde pero la consecuencia es que recibe el daño de Thorns y Retaliate juntos lo que resulta demasiado y termina siendo despachada en el acto. Posteriormente Dumacke Orc ataca a Hydra y se repite la historia, pierde el escudo con el Thorns y es eliminado con el Retaliate dejando virtualmente esta batalla decidida.
💥Rounds 2💥
Only Clockwork Aide remains, who can only await summary execution by Uraeus, who, in addition to eliminating him, poisons him to ensure victory.
Solo queda Clockwork Aide que solo le queda esperar la ejecución sumarial por parte de Uraeus que además de eliminarlo lo envenena para asegurar la victoria.
🐉 Conclusions/Conclusiones
- Shadow of Gray is a very interesting ruleset because it rethinks the need to improve our neutral cards to face these battles. Before, there were not many neutral cards in my deck, but now with this new rule I have begun to better appreciate the value of these cards.
- Shadow of Gray es una muy interesante ruleset porque nos replantea la necesidad de mejorar nuestras cartas neutras para enfrentar estos combates. Antes no eran muchas las cartas neutras que tenía en mi mazo ahora con esta nueva regla he comenzado apreciar mejor el valor de estas cartas.
