The new weekly Share your Battle Challenge has been replaced by the Baggle Mage Secrets Challenge. The new challenge is no longer about a single card, but about a rule for the battles.
I like this very much, so one has more flexibility what one wants to show. Also, it is important for all newcomers to understand the single rules to be able to understand which cards can work well.
This also helps enormously in the guild brawls to achieve better results.

Close Range strengthens the ranged fighters. The restriction to attack only from the back row is removed. This means that the ranged fighters can suddenly also act as a tank. This, of course, greatly enhances this card category for these matches.
In general, however, this rule does not interfere with the game mechanics as much as others. But it does allow some cards to be used a little differently.
One card type in particular benefits from this rule, all cards with Ranged AND Melee or Magic damage. E.g. War Chang or Runemance Flore. All such cards become much stronger.
If their ranged attack normally falls away as soon as they move to 1st position, with this rule they hit there too! But let's look at my match, as always there are many other factors like splinter selection and other rules relevant to the lineup.
Today we have another Brawl Match. It is a fight on a Bronze All Cards Fray. All Splinters except Water, 24 Mana and besides Close Range also Target Practice and Weak Magic. A somewhat strange combination.
Lineup
For this Brawl I have once again afforded myself a Kitty for rent. One of the strongest Summoner cards ever. I'm going for speed here, but the heal is always good and Aim True anyway.
The Hill Giant has a lot of hit points for only 3 mana, and with Kitty's heal, it's already a troublesome obstacle to overcome.
One of the most exciting recent changes is the introduction of the Martyr ability. They really change things and have already found their place in many teams after a short time.
In Target Practice, I like to put these cards in the off-tank position to intentionally trigger the ability.
On the 3rd position is my cheat for this round. The plan is to buff Quora with Martyr and Bloodlust so that she becomes unstoppable with the double heal!
Finally, in the last position, the Naga as a simple backline tank against sneak attacks. Quora heals, but it might not be enough against a Sneak-Heavy team.
The Battle
Little Shieldpaw with a colorful mixture of cards. There is a card with Sneak, a Whelp Hearder with Opportunity and Chwala with Thorns and another Xenith Archer. I can't quite figure out the lineup. But let's see how it goes.
My Hill Giant suffers and my Naga also has to take a hit, but that's okay. The cards are only there to buy Quora enough time. As soon as my Fungus Flinger falls over, she gets a first buff and the Snowball will start rolling.
Okay there are already some of my cards gone, but still everything goes according to plan. Thanks to Close Range, the Flinger can even land a hit from position 1 and prepare everything for Quora.
It is once again one of those examples that show how strong Quora is. Together with Kitty it is then much less fun. At least for the enemies...
One round later it still looks almost the same, not very much has happened due to some misses.
and it begins...
Thanks to Martyr there are already 2 Staks bloodlust so to say. Quora is now unstoppable. This will be a fun party!
The last round ends with a double kill and the job is done, a win for us.
GG!
Summary
Not a classic close range setup, but a demonstration of how strong Quora can be. Well, somehow my opponent didn't have a clear concept, but even these fights have to be won first.
Close Range is a nice addition but not too big a change. The ranged fighters have a slightly larger share, but in the end a rule alone is often not decisive. It's the combination of all factors.
See you soon on the battlefield.
