Dodgy battle to break into GOLD I and buying cheap summoners off the market

This is my first time reaching and finishing Gold I rank. I tried to grind my way to Diamond III, but went down to Gold II, now I'm back at Gold I, and with only an hour of the season left and no quest available, I'm going to lock in my 30 chests for end of season rewards.

The battle that got me back into Gold I was fun one (but annoying for the opponent). Click here to watch it. I took advantage of the synergy that enrage ruleset has with Phantom of the Abyss' speed and dodge ability. When that thing gets enraged, it has a speed of 9 which makes it a damn slippery guy to attack with melee and ranged attacks.

Since few days ago there's been a chance to get Chaos Legion packs from daily quests. Yesterday and today I got 1 pack from both of my quests. The drop rate of a CL pack per chest varies from 1 to 1.5 percent in the gold ranks, and according to this table, by completing daily quests you can expect 1 pack for every 6 to 13 days on average, depending if you're in the higher or lower tier of Gold ranking.

Still holding my Chaos Legion packs

It's very tempting to open all those packs and start leveling up my cards to reach Diamond league, but the legendary summoners are still unreleased from airdrops. When they've been released, they will be available from packs as well. It'll take a while until all packs have been sold, but the wait will be worth even if I get 1 additional legendary summoner from the packs on top of airdrops. Judging by previous editions, legendary summoners will be highly valuable.

Buying summoners off the market meanwhile

I don't know what kind of cards I'm going to get, so it can be tricky to decide what cards to buy off the market, but right now I'm going with summoners. You can't go wrong with summoners, because summoner level determines the rest of the lineups maximum level. I've noticed that in my current battles it's often my summoner that's limiting the full potential of some of my monsters.

Thaddius Brood and General Sloan have been sold on the market considerably lower compared to other CL summoners so I've been picking them up at discounts. General Sloan is very powerful in certain situations and it has lot of synergies with Life splinter's archers. Thaddius Brood, even though a debuff summoner, I think is a solid one, since life debuff goes to use in every battle. Magic debuff is more situational, but powerful against magic lineups. I feel there's lots of magic monsters in the meta right now, so it's not a useless ability.

I definitely want to level up Kelya Frendul as well, since water is already one of my strongest splinters with Alric at level 4. Leveling up Kelya is cost efficient because I can utilize a lot of my already strong cards meanwhile not being as predictable with my lineups. I'm aiming to Level up my Chaos Legion summoners to Level 5, since that allows to Common monsters at Level 6. I've been eyeing some monsters that gain some good abilities at that level.

Btw, you should use Cardauctionz for purchasing cards, you'll get 3.75% cashback in DEC immediately.
