Splinterlands | Added More Max Level Cards #7

in #hive-1332324 days ago

While I have a hard time to see Splinterlands go anywhere in it's current path, for some reason I continued to expand my card collection this past month...

The Fun of Collecting

One of the things that I have always enjoyed about Splinterlands is the act of collecting cards and leveling them up. This despite the monetary aspect even though I always assumed that older cards over time would become more valuable if the player base becomes bigger. This has mostly be debunked as everything has been trending toward zero as the wild format and the near obligation to run a bot wich takes part of the earnings along with the tax to enter take away most of the potential earnings even at higher levels. Purely financially if you believe Splinterlands will succeed, by far the best thing to do is just stack up on SPS and have it staked.

So while I'm as good as done with Splinterlands and am looking to exit if there is another adoption wave and pump, I couldn't help myself to get a couple more key cards to get closer to completing my collection at max level. This while the extra expected earnings are by no means in relation to the cost.

Welcome To The Family New Max Level Cards

It's been over a month since my last post and I have been looking to get a couple more key cards leveled up.

Summoners

Two of the most expensive Chaos Legion Legendary Summoners I didn't own yet in the Immortalis and the Lilly Shieldpaw, with the price of SPS going up and at the moment having them at a not too extreme price for sale I did pull the trigger to once and for all buy them and (over) combined my owned Level 3 to Level 4. The annoying thing about leveling up is that once you start doing it, a whole lot of cards especially summoners that aren't at the higher level become useless.

This now makes me own all the Chaos Legion Legendary Summoners at MAX Level.

Legendary Fiends!

These are cards that when I had Gold Level Summoners were good enough to just own at Level 1. However, at max level they get an extra ability which can be extremely useful. A Single copy at the start went for more or less ~4$ which was relatively cheap based on the pack prices and the chance you have to pull a legendary. Right now the price for the Legendary Fiends are...

SplinterFiend Pice $Burn Value NowDEC Peg Burn Value
Fire4.71$3.73$5.50$
Water4.70$3.73$5.50$
Earth4.71$3.73$5.50$
Life7.21$3.73$5.50$
Death4.36$3.73$5.50$

So basically if you believe that DEC at some point will return to peg you can get a +26% Return on the cheapest one with possible way more upside and some rental income along the way. In that regard, there is actually a point to buy cards as the only real risk is them going to absolute zero if Splinterlands would go belly up with nobody to take it over.

Other Chaos Legion Cards

I'm near complete in having all Legendary cards and leveled up the River Hellondale & the Spirit Hoarder which are both cards that the Archmage bot uses on a regular basis.

The Dax Paragon, Time Mage, & Soul Strangler also were cards that I didn't own yet at max level while Archmage at times played if at lower level.

Finally I Leveld up 3 more Chaos Legion Common cards with the Riftwing which I see is played a lot by Archmage. The Shadow Snitch & Chaos Knight I also leveled up

So for about 60$ right now you really get can buy a ton of cards and it's kind of hard to see them go down much more in value as they are already trading below what would be the DEC burn value when it gets to peg.

SPS Accumulation

I continue to just stake the SPS that I earn but I'm not actively buying if even though at the current price even after the pump it likely is a better deal compared to cards. I however doubt that the current pump has any sustain power though as there is no real selling point for the game currently and once marketing kicks in I think it will be the next deception.

Last TimeNow

I am tempted to get my SPS to 300k though which also would help me to earn a bit more in Wild.

Conclusion!

Unless Splinterlands fully goes down, Cards right now especially the Chaos Legion Set should be a good buy as they price they can be bought for is lower compared to the burn value in case DEC would go back to Peg. I mainly bought more for the collecting aspect as I do want a complete set still.

I have been a long time follower of your posts. I really appreciate the quality of your posts and being candid about the game. I can't help but agree about SPS being the number one asset to buy in Splinterlands eco-system with Chaos Legion cards worth maxing out to maximize your earnings and burn value in case DEC returns to peg value.

Thanks, I always try to see the things the way I see them good or bad.

The way things are setup right now, everything indeed flows into SPS and I'm not quite sure it will actually work as nobody in their right mind would ever buy new cards as they are sure to drop in value. This is something they really need to fix as the earnings in SPS regardless the price never will make up for this. Also if it ever comes to a point where SPS goes really high it's a setup for problems in the future as not much SPS will be needed to print a ton of DEC which will create another massive oversupply especially when SPS were to come all the way down again.

The main thing to hope for right now is a terra-luna scenario where the flywheel does get in action creating price action that gets more players in creating an upward spiral that feeds on itself to sell all assets and SPS near the peak.

I don't know If I agree about sps, it has fallen alot and there aren't really incentives to hold it as people need DEC more.

The way I see it, there is just no scenario where Splinterlands would ever succeed without SPS going up. There is a core userbase who will buy new packs, promo cards, unlock soulbound cards and at the current price and market cap of SPS, it should be just a matter of time before more gets burned. Everyone buying other assets (maybe aside cards that are below the DEC Peg burn value) are feeding into SPS. The value that cards lose almost directly gets pushed into SPS.

Every player also needs SPS staked to earn. The reason it has gone this low (way lower that I ever expected) is because the inflation was too high and the demand simply wasn't there while bots continued to dump. The good thing about the price this low is that more SPS is needed to create DEC.

We'll see how it goes going forward, I would be surprised if the current pump lasts. Longer term however, I still see SPS as by far the best risk-reward asset in Splinterlands right now.

Some good insights and you could be right. However, I am glad I offloaded my SPS as it kept going down and I saved myself from more losses!
