Splinterlands | My 2025 Goals !

in #hive-133238 days ago

After sharing some predictions around Splinterlands yesterday (Link), it's now time to lay down my personal goals when it comes down to the game.

General Espectation

As I laid down yesterday, I'm not exactly most bullish on Splinterlands thinking it's rather unlikely for us to see another 2021 scenario where all of a sudden the spiral turns around. Higher prices would mean more players are interested and not enough assets for everyone, pushing everything up together. So I still go about Splinterlands in a way where I enjoy being part of the ecosystem letting most things run passively without the need to grind hours daily. Everything also depends in how things go...

Crazy Bull Pump Scenario

I don't rule out this 2021 scenario fully, but if it were to take place especially if nothing fundamentally changes about all the pay2win and fun-reducing dynamics in the game, it will be time for me to just sell all my assets and get out. There was a time at the top where my cards alone were worth 80k+ at the absolute peak and I don't know many at that point who were willing to get go of them and move on as everything was just so exciting and fun. This time though I hope to have learned if this happens again which is the best-case scenario. I haven't really been actively playing that much so it will be a bit easier to make the right choice understanding that it will be impossible to out-earn the decline in asset values which eventually will happen.

Normal Expectations Scenario

My general expectation now is that Splinterlands will continue to struggle but it's going to keep existing with attempts to improve. I don't think it will outperform most of the crypto assets though as there are still way too many fundamental flaws. So I approach everything as fun money and less as an investment were I need to get the maximum out of. In the end it all remains quite enjoyable and if the bull market continues, eventually excess money will find it's way into fun assets like this.

#1 SPS Accumulation

I'm now at a total of ~282k SPS Staked which is growing organically around 800 SPS each week which should stay at least there given that there will be an extra reward pool. That would mean that without buying more I should be able to get to 320k Staked SPS. At current prices I'm still quite comfortable to slowly buy a bit more if I have extra funds. I do plan to do this I would say with a goal to reach 400k SPS. This means that I will continue getting a 8x-10x multiplier in Wild.

I also don't plan to sell any SPS below 0.03$ as I rather go down with the ship fully than to give up and sell this low. Once it reaches that I might consider selling profit made above a certain point. at 800 SPS each week at 0.03$ this only comes at 24$ so it's by no means a big jackpot. I don't plan to fully exit SPS unless it would go somewhere around 0.5$-1$ which at this point is nothing more than a crazy dream.

I WON'T SELL A SINGLE SPS BELOW 0.03$ !

#2 Card Accumulation

At this point, I'm only really interested in getting more cards to MAX Level even though likely it is pure capital desruction as they can be sold for more at lower levels. I still don't have some of the cheap Chaos Legion Cards at max level but I do aim to complete my collection just for the sake of it.I don't believe Splinterlands really can survive as long as the price gap between older and new cards remains so big and if power creep is too big. So I am not interested in buying packs and chasing the hot new cards. Instead I will target some selected fun cards that also suit my general playstyle to level up and also will watch out of good deals of people who are willing to let them go at dumping prices. I have been making update posts on the cards that I am accumulating and will continue making those. Since the last one (Link) I actually added 3 more.

#3 Soulbound Card Accumulation

I also very much enjoy grinding the soulbound reward set and getting that to max level. That is also my goal to get close to a complete MAX Level set. This along with a Max Level set of the Gladius Cards.

At the current pace I should be able to get them in time before the next set releases. Near the end, I will likely stop wasting Glints to get that final card and just start saving for the next set. Similar to the previous Set, I have zero intention to unlock the Soulbound cards as the cost simply doesn't justify the added benefits.

#4 Survival Mode Goals

If this gets released early 2025 I will for sure try if out even though I kind of know that I will be rather frustrated with the pay2win and grinding aspect of it which doesn't provide that much difference with the existing Wild mode. The rewards also likely won't be worth the time and effort and if it would spike more demand for cards (which is the entire point), I may let go of some of my excess single cards that I have been holding for many years with zero use and which I don't want to dump at current prices.

#5 Splinterlands Blogging Goals

Making some content around Splinterlands either sharing some ideas, strategies, guides, or ventilating frustrations has been something that I continue to highly enjoy and it on top also gets well rewarded. It provides me funds that I can use to re-invest into the game which is always nice. So I aim to keep up with my consistency in this regard making at least 1 and possibly 2 Splinterlands-related posts weekly joining the Social Media Challenge and the Community Engagement challenge. I won't force content onto them though and if the subject of the Community Engagement challenge isn't something that I want to write about naturally I will skip.

#6 Splinterlands Alt Account Goals

I still have an alt account with Nearly 600k Collection power and many older Gold cards which kind of has been sitting idle. I have 7k SPS delegated to it and at time try to play some manual Modern Battles. However, with Chaos Legion rotating out of Modern, this account will only really be able to play Brawls and the survival mode.I might try it out at first but especially if Survival mode cooldowns also count toward Brawls I might not play it. I like the idea to help the guild do better as I'm able to fill the Gold foil Wild Brawl with generally good results. But at some point though I will start letting go of these cards and just fully terminate this account and maybe only try to grind some SPS using the Soulbound cards that are left in Survival. For now I will just continue to play the brawls with this account and at times play a couple modern matches.

Conclusion

With generally low expectations around Splinterlands for 2025 and a limited enjoyment left of actually playing the game, my goals aren't that crazy in that I slowly aim to accumulate more assets at current low prices and no intention to sell a single SPS below 0.03$. I do aim to retire my alt account and to continue making articles about the game which I still very much enjoy doing and spending the time on. So unless Splinterlands does crazy 2021 numbers, I very much will stick around for my 8th year in the ecosystem!

Hey @costanza, here is a little bit of BEER from @thehockeyfan-at for you. Enjoy it!

Did you know that <a href='https://dcity.io/cityyou can use BEER at dCity game to buy cards to rule the world.

Hard to imagine assets at 80k now. 8 years in the game is a long time too!

The days where I played each day are gone for a while as it's mainly my bot that is running, in that regard it's easy to keep going. I couldn't do a forced hour+ of grinding each day anymore now though. Basically, I want to play at times when I want to with the most fun experience and without missing out on potential returns of my cards/sps investment, I don't understand why a simple concept like this isn't made possible in Splinterlands while it is so easy to achieve.

I don't take the 80k as a reference where it should be as those were just peak fomo delusional levels.

I think for sentimental and realistic purposes. Most people are like not to exit because it's not really profitable to do so, so why exit what they've built for years?

I do think the market will pump splinterlands assets, and if SPS gets to 10 cents, I might sell my own little stash, anything less than that, I won't.

It's still early days though, so I think the market can change so quickly. Although probably not the 2021 levels

Yeah, most are quite at a heavy loss and are stuck in the sunken cost fallacy. I also would be surprised if things ever got to the 2021 levels again but then again, once the spiral turns from negative to positive there is a potential for things to go crazy.

Also once things would go crazy again, it's going to be key to not make the same mistake again and just leave the high earnings for what they are and cash in on the assets that went up especially if nothing fundamentally changes.

Very reasonable goals for 2025. Funny thing is your number one and two are the same as mine.

One thing is that playing modern right now is very profitable in terms of SPS. Once Chaos leaves modern I think it will make more sense to just leave the bot running.

The problem is that when everyone starts running a bot, the profitability in Wild will go down even more. Just looking at how thin the earnings in champion after the Wild Fee and the Bot Fees I doubt many will be able to play it profitably. This again makes nobody willing to buy modern cards and low wild earnings increase the card price gap. They really need to properly fix this dynamic and I fear the Survival won't really cut it.

Good luck in 2025
