Splinterlands | Scooping Up More Max Level Cards !

in #hive-1332311 days ago

Even though I'm not that bullish on Splinterlands, something in me still enjoys building my card collection getting more Max Level Cards at current prices...

Bull Market Excess Money Incoming?

I still don't really like the direction Splinterlands going in. I personally believe it's a no-brainer to move in the direction where players pay a fixed fee to be able to play with max level cards which are provided by owners who get a share of the entry costs (Full Idea Article). However, I still kind of feel the urge to buy more cards right now leveling my collection as prices are so much cheaper compared to what was paid for these cards. What also tends to happen is that fun things like Play2Earn games this tend to see inflows when people have made a lot of money from other coins in the crypto space.

Just looking at how much money is still being thrown at the new overpowered auction card it's quite crazy showing that there still is a demand. 14 Million DEC for a max level Gold card recently equals 14k Dollar at DEC Peg which is carzy.

So I do expect at some point in this cycle for demand to pick up again for cards, especially with the Survival Mode Release. At the same time I'm also still having fun collecting and leveling cards even though it's kind of capital destruction. Single cards will be way more useful since 1 copy has a 15 day cooldown while a card with 400 copies in it has a 5 day cooldown. Especially with bots allowed it will be much more profitable to spam low level decks. It's another reason why Max Level should be the norm for Survival mode in a way where players automatically rent them by paying an entry fee.

Welcome To The Family New Max Level Cards

So I went into somewhat of a buying Spree as I have done well in the crypto market lately while Hive earnings also have been going up.

Summoners

One of the cars that I was stuck on at Level 6 was the Arlic Strormbringer which is one of the more powerful still with a +1 Magic Damage on a Splinter with some really good Magic Cards. I have been keeping an eye on it to possibly level it up but it always was just too expensive for me. This until I saw a max level for sale at the price of ~55$ way lower compared to the other listed prices. So I took the jump and went ahead and bought it. Archmage however hasn't played it a single time yet so I might have overestimated the power or just not have enough supporting cards with Magic Attack that I may look to level up next. I also bought some more Quid Yuff cards to get that one to max level as they were so cheap.

Right now you can literally buy max-level summoners for just 11$ which feels crazy especially as these should once again be the key cards once Survival mode is released.

Legendary Fiends!

I still missed 2 Max Level Fiends from the Earth and Fire Summoners and managed to buy them for sub 7$. So at worst case it's not that far away from the actual burn value.

Strong Archmage Cards! These are all cards that I saw often used by archmage which I didn't yet have at max level while some of them become a lot more powerful with the last level.

the High Priest Darius gets 1 more magic damage at Max Level and is used a lot in a Life Strategy that is focused around Ressurect. Single cards were selling below 3$ which it still is going for. The Igor Darkspear s one of the cheap Chaos Legion cards that is also used all the time. The Silvershield Sherrif didn't get a crazy buff but I still got it from level 6 to level 8. the Sand Worm is one that I really grinded waiting for good sell offers on the market to get it to max level where it takes a huge leap with the Piercing Ability which is absolutely key. The 7 damage becomes so much better and the 4 speed is also quite ok. It was a similar situation with the Gelatinous Cube which gets the Void Ability protecting it against Magic Damage.

Fun Cards!

The Spark Pixies is always a card I wanted to own at max level since it suits my playing style and is just a fun speed centered card. at 21$ for a max level I was able to pull the trigger on it and its currently still going around that price. The Axemaster is another really fun cards that I got from level 4 to Level 6 where it gets the Cripple Ability. The average price I paid was around 0.61$ a card so It was a bad deal as they are nog going for less. The Parasicic Growth is also one of the cards that suits my play style and it becomes quite a bit more powerful at max level with 3 instead of 4 melee damage. However it isn't used that much my archmage from what it looks like. Finally the Nectar Queen is one of the cards I often use with the Eathquake game rule and the poison makes it quite a bit more powerful at max level.

Other Cards!

Cards are just so affordable right now that I kind of randomly leveled some of them to max level including 4 Fire Splinter Cards.

Untamed cards like the Light Elemental and Thunderbird also are very affordable now and quite fun, I also leveled up the Shadow Snitch

Max Level Gold Cards Collection!A while ago, I wrote about the potential of Max Level Common Chaos Legion Gold cards that are selling close to the DEC burn value while they are often used by archmage for a nice SPS % boost. See >Why I Started Buying Max Level Common Gold Cards. I added 1 more to that list with the Medampir now owning 3 that are regularly used.

SPS Accumulation

The last accumulation post was just over 3 months ago (Link) where I owned 263946 SPS which was worth 1969$ (0.0075$ Price), by now without buying more, this increased by +5.5% to 278519 SPS which is worth 2873$ (0.011$ Price). I'm kind of tempted to stack some more SPS but at the same time don't want to take from other investments for it and I still can't say I'm overly confident even though it still feels very low.

Last TimeNow

Conclusion!

I still feel cards are pretty cheap right now despite not having full confidence in Spliterlands. So the continued card accumulation I see more as fun expenses in the hope that Bull market money one day will come in pushing these illiquid cards much higher again.

Sps is probably going to have better upside potential compared to cards. But yeah collecting cards is more fun :)

100% agree, I'm tempted to get some more SP S also at current prices. I guess Splinterlands is one of those things where I'm more going on sentiment instead of being fully rational.

The spark pixie and axemaster are formidable cards at max level. In reality, inasmuch as I'm not also bullish on splinterlands too, I think when you love playing the game, you just find yourself coming back to upgrade, stake SPS and do the necessary things to improve your card levels, it's just that bias you have towards the game

I guess what I really like about Splinterlands is the potential for it to be a really fun game, right now the pay2win-bot-centered execution is just complete garbage and such a waste as economical incentives always come at the cost of fun and gameplay.

The fact that I continue to want to buy cards despite everything also kind of makes me optimistic. I guess experiencing the previous crazy boom kind of gives me hope to see it again one day. I remember selling single Mushroom Seer for like 40$+ during the peak hype. The fact that I'm overall well in the positive for Splinterlands and always just use earnings from the blogging and the game also helps.

At the same time, looking at it rationally I would never start playing or investing in Splinterlands now in case I had zero exposure as I see more opportunities elsewhere. Only time will tell how it all is going to play out.

I think you're a risk taker and there's a potential for you to become extremely rich by x20 to x50ing your splinterlands assets in the peak of the coming run, if you don't position yourself, then it's hard to get lucky. I know it looks bleak for splinterlands, but we cannot predict how well it'll perform because of how uncertain it looks.

Overall, I still think you'll make a chunk of decent profit when the splinterlands market peaks.

I bought one single BCX of Djinn Oshannus in 2021 for 39$
