Blood Maker is another Yodin Companion Card in the Fire Splinter

Live and die by the Scattershot.

Scattershot is an ability that players have love/hate relationship and it is an ability that requires knowing if the opponent is going to use a taunt. One of the ways to counter Yodin Zaku is to use a taunt as a tank with a self-healer in the second position or to put a taunt in the last spot with a self-healer in the second-to-last position. Blood Maker gives Yodin Zaku the ability to blast and damage 3 monsters as opposed to 2, in the case of a taunting counter.

Blood Maker's Unauthorized Story

Blood Maker was just an ordinary pharmaceutical engineer in New Jersey. He went to work using the New Jersey Turnpike, enjoyed Taylor Ham (we normals call it "Pork Roll"), he enjoyed going to the Jersey Shore during the Summer, and paid high property taxes.

However, he lost his grip with reality and believed in a new project. He quit his job to create artificial blood so that donations would not be necessary. He had trouble with funding his project and experienced difficulties with developing the product. He desperately wanted to make a splash to get the attention of Venture Capitalists and made deals with local gangs to take the bodies of those they murdered. Blood Maker stole the bodies and extracted the blood, he made it seem like it was blood that he created, but he was just sourcing it from urban carnage.

Blood Maker is a fraud, but Venture Capitalists rolled in and threw hundreds of millions of funding into the project. Blood Maker is now left to figure out whether he actually creates the artificial blood or does he continue to do business in the tough streets of Baltimore, Camden, and Newark knowing that supplies will eventually run short?

Breaking down Blood Maker's Abilities

One BCX Perspective

Blood Maker has some speed out of the gate and even packs a punch for a common card. It's not the card to play with anything other than a Yodin Zaku. It does not fit with the other Fire Splinter summoners and it is too random in attack.

This is sort of the theme that is on-going with this card. It is a niche card.

Bronze Play

Not much changes when this card is advanced to Level 3. It's a little bit faster and it has one more point of health, but beyond that, it's basically the same card with the same sort of limited functionality.

Silver Play

Silver players will appreciate that this card has 3 range and pairs well with a Level 2 Yodin Zaku, which can make this monster absolutely brutal.

Outside of that, there are better range options and in the Fire Splinter, there are better cards to play in general. Most people won't have a Level 2 Yodin Zaku to play, they are usually playing with a Malric Inferno or Tarsa and there's more value to using melee attackers or range attackers that are more reliable in their choice of enemy card to attack.

What hurts for those Silver is that the next ability comes out in Level 6 and it is actually a good ability.

Gold+ Play

In Level 6 and above, this card can be quite dangerous. 4 attack at anyone on the board and a cripple ability that can make things tough for triage and self-healers. However, this is a card that really is meant to accompany Yodin Zaku, a Level 3 Yodin Zaku.

This is a card that is generally limited in usefulness and possibly by the number of players using it.

Final Thoughts on Blood Maker

If you have Yodin Zaku, rejoice, you have a card that can bypass a taunt. If you don't have Yodin Zaku, the card has very little to offer.

You might want to use it in Close Range matches in Silver and higher because it does pack a punch, regardless of whether you have Yodin Zaku.

Useful, but extremely niched card here.
