Does Jared Scar Change How We Look At the Life Splinter?

Jared Scar is the Linebacker of the Life Splinter

Jared Scar is one of the most hyped cards of the New Rewards set, but is it worthy of the hype? There are some individuals who actually think this is a tank. It's a legendary card and it is... something. The Life Splinter is commonly thought of as the Range Deck or the "Smoke and Mirrors" Deck, Jared Scar brings a Gladius sort of flair to Life.

Breaking Down Jared Scar's Abilities

One BCX Perspective

This is NOT a tank. With 2 shield and 4 health, it could be gone before it even strikes. That's if it even lands the attack.

Can Grandmaster Rathe make it a tank? No. The extra armor and void armor do not do enough. There's too few health here and it is slow.

It does not pair well with General Sloan nor does it get any massive bonus out of being teamed with Tyrus Paladium or Mother Khala.

Jared Scar makes the most sense with The Peakrider. Giving it 3 more armor and reducing an opponent's range in a match where magic is not expected makes Jared Scar, a viable choice.

In Bronze, how many players are expecting to see The Peakrider? None. It's the ultimate surprise of a summoner choice and most Bronze players are not exactly preparing to face this summoners. Jared Scar can logically thrive in this sort of an environment.

Take Jared Scar off the tank and put him in the back line with Daria Dragonscale as the summoner in a Melee Mayhem, Sneak Attack or Opportunity Match and there can be a lot of damage done by Jared Scar by the end.

Concerned about speed? Put Jared Scar with Byzantine Kitty and this card will be able to attack early enough.

Silver Play

How many players pair Rexxie with Desert Dragon or Undead Rexx with Desert Dragon to get a double trample effect? Putting Jared Scar with Desert Dragon in a Melee Mayhem, Sneak Attack or Opportunity Match will wreak havoc on an opponent.

Once again, The Peakrider is the only choice if putting Jared Scar in front is the prerogative. Just hope that magic is not going to be in play for this to happen.

Jared Scar will not miss at Level 2, which is good. However, he does not get faster and will not ever get faster.

Byzantine Kitty and Daria Dragonscale are good summoner choices for Jared Scar. Jared Scar is once again best in particular rule sets where he can play in the back line and do damage.

Gold+ Play

If you pieced together Level 2 Desert Dragon and Level 1 Grum Flameblade, you would have Jared Scar at Level 3.

Nothing much changes beyond the melee attack being even more devastating. It is still a card that is best suited to being off the tank.

It can be interesting with a Byzantine Kitty, Scale Doctor, and Djinn Renova.

Final Thoughts

Jared Scar is a Dragon Splinter card masquerading as a Life Splinter card. It makes most sense with The Peakrider, Daria Dragonscale, and Byzantine Kitty. It makes no sense in any other setup.

It is a great card for certain rule sets, but more often than not, it will not be used because it is too defensively limited to showcase a devastating attack.

I think your analysis is spot on. Looks great on paper, but needs to be paired with certain summoners and niche rule sets. I look forward to playing with it, but i'm not going to pay current prices. Good read. Sharing this on https://twitter.com/PraetoriaDigest.
