Dragons
Using Dragon cards in a match is always exciting as they are normally stronger than other cards but also use more mana when added to your lineup. Due to this you need to have a high mana cap match that you can really get the best benefit from using them.
In this battle, I used three different Dragon cards:
- Quix The Devious as my Summoner
- Djinn Chwala as my tank
- Naga Assassin as my anchor on my back line
Quix The Devious
This summoner has minus 1 Ranged Attack and minus 1 Speed. Both are applied to your opponents cards. Slowing down your opponent is always a smart thing to do.
With my level two summoner, I will be able to play Common cards at level 5, Rare at level 4, Epic at level 3 and Legendary at level 2.
Djinn Chwala
As my Tank, I picked Djinn Chwala with the Thorns ability. As an Epic card, it will play at level 3. Level 3 provides 3 Melee attack, 2 Speed, 6 Armor and 10 Health. With the high armor and health, it makes an excellent tank for any lineup.
Naga Assassin
Naga Assassin is a Rare Dragon rewards card. With my summoner, it will play at level 4. At level 4, Naga has the Backfire ability so if an opponent attacks and misses, it will backfire and cause damage to the opponent instead.
Also at level 4, Naga has 1 Range Attack, 5 Speed, 4 Health but no Armor. With a speed of 5, it is very likely the opponent will be slower and miss it's attack.
Match Rule Set
Mana Cap: 44
Rule Set: Lost Magic
Splinter: Fire, Earth or Dragon available - selected Dragon
Strategy
With the Lost Magic and 44 Mana for the match, Quix the Devious was the easy choice for the summoner with Djinn Chwala as the tank.
I wanted to have my next card have the reach ability so I picked the Radiated Brute with 3 Melee attack, 3 Speed and 6 Health. This should help inflict more damage on any tank my opponent may selected.
I added the Lava Launcher with 4 Range attack, 6 Armor, 6 Health and Close Range ability in the third position. The Close Range ability will ensure that it can still use range attack if the two cards before it are killed off.
Since Djinn Chwala has 6 Armor, I added next to my lineup Scavo Hiring with the Repair ability. Each turn it will repair armor either of my tank or any other cards in my line up once per turn.
Next to last before Naga, I selected to use Gargoya Devil with 3 Range attack, 3 Speed, 1 Armor and 3 Health. It also has three abilities at level 4 - Flying, Close Range and Deathblow.
Match Progress
When the lineup was revealed, I was nervous because my opponent selected the same summoner however it was one level higher than mine. This is bad because they will be able to play cards at higher levels and also additional abilities than I can play.
I was very lucky that the first attack against Naga was a miss and the backfire ability took out their armor. However my tanks armor was totally eliminated during the round. I was able to cause damage to my opponents tank but it had the shield ability so it reduced.
During the second round, I was able to finish off my opponents tank but Naga was hit and poisoned so will not last into the third round since poison occurs first before any attacking starts. I was able to repair my tanks armor but it did take a lot of damage during the round.
Oh my, their Runic Skyclaw is fast with a speed of 5. It's speed caused my cards to miss except I was able to take out it's armor but missing for two full rounds is impressive. If this keeps up, I do not have a chance.
I was finally able to get some hits in and then my opponents cards started to fall.

Results
The combination of cards that I used was the only reason I was able to defeat the higher level summoner. If I would have used different cards or put them in different position I do not believe I would have won the match.
I was penalized 7% for using a level 4 common card but otherwise I was very pleased with the rewards.
