The Splinterlands game has a change coming down the pike that has the potential to spike the price of SPS. This is just my opinion and not financial advice but you had better check it out if you are a player or an investor.
Potential SPS Price Spike
Currently the price of SPS is $0.02100 way below it's ATH.
The last trades that have taken place have been mostly buys vs sell. This would indicate that most players/investors are wanting to add to their holding of the SPS Token.
The open sell orders on the market are very light compare to the open buy orders. Due to what is on the horizon for the tokenomics of the Splinterlands game, I agree that now is the time to add to your holdings or hold what you have to wait and see where the market heads.
Right now Crypto in general is in a Bear market but most of the signs point to accumulation prior to a big price move.
New Use Case for SPS
On top of all crypto being in a bear market, a new use case has been added for the SPS token. Your Rating and Power determine the league in which you have ranked matches. The higher the League, the higher your potential earnings for each match you win.
The Power will be replaced with the amount of Staked and delegated SPS you have in your account. This change is in the works and should be made within the near future based on comments that were shared at the latest Town Hall.
Normally when a new use case is added for a crypto, there is an increased demand for it.
Staking Levels by Tier
The Tiers and the ranting per tier are not changing. The change is related to moving from the Collection Power of the cards you own to Staked SPS.
Some players are stating the new SPS is a requirement will make the game too expensive to play while others are looking at it as an opportunity for their current holdings to jump in value.
However my understanding is that the quantity of Staked SPS is reflected of the amount needed to earn the maximum for that League. So if you have some SPS staked, you will still earn but just not at the maximum level.
League | Min Rating | Staked SPS |
---|---|---|
Bronze III | 100 | 0.00 |

Waiting or Surrender
So will you be adding to your holding of SPS while the price is still low or will you be just waiting it out to see what happens next?
The other option is just to Surrender and give up now, sell everything and don't care which direction the price may take because you don't like the direction the owners of the game are taking.
