... and I don't even know when I won it...
On the logic "I have plenty of Splinterlands potions, and the chances to win Nightmare packs are pretty low", I don't pay much attention to the potential random prizes at the end of every SoulKeep game. And I don't really know where we have a history of them...
However, I discovered surprisingly one of the other days that I had one unclaimed Nightmare pack as a reward along with a few potions and over 60 SPS. Hadn't claimed any of my Soulkeep rewards at that time, so I guess that was a perfect time to do it.
I made sure I kept a copy of the towers and spells I got after opening the pack, so here they are:
The result: one legendary and 4 commons (one of which GF).
Let's take them one by one...
Fountain of Terror can be a good tower with a nice base range and decent speed of attack, and costing only 70. I started to use them more often recently. But I already have a GF one and this RF version doesn't help much.
Knife Tosser - cheap, very quick rate of attack, 120% added to damage at the cost of 70, physical attack may be important against magic-resistant fiends; I need many more of them for Level 3
Ivory Tower - serious physical damage at the cost of speed; I very rarely used it, and have a GF version, so not much I can use the RF version for
Gear Grease - This spell temporarily increases the speed of attack of the affected tower(s); I only used this spell early on when I was experimenting and I don't think it's worth adding to the spells if you don't know the map; if you have 5 spells and you know you will have a few grouped towers, maybe it would be worth experimenting with it.
Soulful - Legendary spell that can increase your score in the tournament (the number of tokens you receive when killing fiends in the Soulful circle). This would be great, but its cost of 250 makes it usable only in late waves, and it takes up a spell spot. Basically, it's a decision between Soulful, Heartgiver, and Mana Mania from situation to situation. And if you only have 3 spell spots, it's unlikely to add it. So, it's a great spell to have in your collection, in my opinion, but not essential. I'm very happy to have pulled it in this pack, since I didn't have it! I only got to use it once though, and can't be sure if it made any noticeable impact.
A week or two ago I made two goals for SoulKeep:
- to win at least once a higher tier reward (than the minimum one)
- to have enough kills to advance to League 3
I reached my first goal, which is cool. Still have to work on the second one, since I rarely play extra tournament entries.
I have the requirements for common and rare fiends, but am lacking them for epic and legendary ones. However, compared to the last time I tracked those numbers, they doubled, so they are moving forward. Slowly, but surely.
I'm glad I also won a pack which I didn't anticipate last time. Maybe another one comes, who knows? 😄
Without packs or being in Top 10 (which isn't a rule except for maybe a few), one may think the rewards are not worth it. I guess I still play the game out of pleasure and whatever comes as rewards is welcomed. It's true I probably wouldn't like to see myself in the second half of the leaderboard.
