Hi Guys! In this post we are exploring on another Splinterlands ruleset. The ruleset we are focusing on is Ferocity.
In a Ferocity ruleset, all units have the Fury ability.
Note that unit with Taunt will take double damage from enemy units with Fury. So the strategy is simple, just avoid using unit with Taunt when you come across this ruleset.
Lets take a look at a Wild ranked match with Ferocity as one of the ruleset. The battle restrictions are:
Ferocity, Healed Out and Holy Protection with a max mana of 13. Only Fire, Life and Death splinters are allowed in this battle. The Video for the Full Battle can be seen here:

Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
General Sloan | 4 | Summoner | Normally with such low mana restriction, I usually go with Death lineup. However because of the additional of Holy Protection ruleset, I decided to go with Life lineup as I have more smaller mana units in Life splinter and the Holy Protection would give my Life unit to survive an extra hit no matter now small they are. |
Pelacor Conjurer | 2 | 1st | Pelacor Conjurer was my main tank. It had a good health for a 2 mana unit and also has Magic Reflect ability. It would be effective against small magic attacking units. |
Gargoya Scrapper | 1 | 2nd | Another small barrier up front. Gargoya Scrapper only costs 1 mana and has Void. |
Dax Paragon | 2 | 3rd | Dax Paragon is a good 2 mana unit that has Amplify ability. With Amplify, the Magic Reflect of the Pelacor Conjurer would be even more devastating against opposing small magic attacking units. |
Celestial Harpy | 2 | 4th | Another 2 mana unit, Celestial Harpy has Opportunity ability and can pick out small dying opposing unit. |
Creepy Ooze | 1 | 5th | My low Creepy Ooze has no attack but I used it for its Slow ability and low cost. It was used as a buffer against enemy Sneak units. |
Chaos Agent | 1 | 6th | Another cheap unit that I deployed to protect against enemy Sneak units. It also has 0 attack but has Dodge ability. |
Total Mana: | 13 |
Opponent Lineup:
My opponent went with a Death splinter lineup with Thaddius Brood as the summoner and Cursed Windeku as the tank. Cursed Windeku is a good tank but because it costs 6 mana. Because of Cursed Windeku's cost, my opponent ended up only deploying 2 units in this match.
As expected, no one deployed any unit with Taunt. :P
End of Round 1:
The match started with my opponent's sneak unit, Fenmoor Haunt, missing its sneak attack on my Chaos Agent. Bad start for my opponent. The round ended with no unit on either side suffering any damage but that was mainly due to Holy Protection protecting against the first hit.
End of Round 2:
The opposing Fenmoor Haunt was dying to my Celestial Harpy. At this point I had no worry on my backline. However I was a bit worried about my frontline as my Pelacor Conjurer was dying to the opposing Cursed Windeku.
End of Round 3:
I lost my Chaos Agent at the back but I was killed the opponent's Fenmoor Haunt. What was important was my opponent's Cursed Windeku missed its attack on my Pelacor Conjurer. This allowed my backline units more time to kill the Cursed Windeku.
End of Round 4:
The opponent Cursed Windeku failed its attack again against my Pelacor Conjurer. Mathematically, the chance of a miss was 45% (25% from Flying ability plus 20% from being 2 speed faster), so to miss 2 out of 3 attack was a bit of a bad RNG for my opponent. Meanwhile my Celestial Harpy had started to attack Cursed Windeku as well. The Holy Protection protected my Celestial Harpy from certain death from the Thorn ability of Cursed Windeku but the next round I would lost that protection.
End of Round 5:
I lost my Celestial Harpy to the Thorn ability from the opponent Cursed Windeku but its ok as it had already done its job. The enemy Cursed Windeku was finally dying even though I also lost my Pelacor Conjurer finally.
End of Round 6
This match was won in 6 rounds. For such a small mana match, it sure took longer than expected.
KEY STRATEGY
My strategy was to fill a full team with small units to make use of the Holy Protection ruleset to draw enemy fire. It worked quite well in this battle especially when the enemy only deployed 2 units vs my 6 units.
