Hi, today I'm about to write a post featuring a battle in Going the Distance ruleset from analyzing a top battle from silver league in modern format.

The battle that I have watched was between Jakkal and Mysti80 where Mysti80 won the battle.

This is the profile and achievements and all details of Jakkal.

With Quix the Devious as summoner, Jakkal used six monsters which are: Venari Markstrat, The Vigilator, Queen of Crows, Supply Runner, Ravenhood Warden, Lira the Dark.

And with the same Quix the Devious as summoner, Mysti80 also used six monsters which are: Cornealus, Zyvax Vuul, Naga Assassin, Supply Runner, Venari Crystalsmith, Prismologist.

Going the DistanceFog of War
Only monsters with ranged attack maybe used in battlesMonsters lose sneak, snipe and opportunity abilities

image.png

There are only ranged attackers on the battle because of going the distance ruleset, and monster's lose sneak, snipe and opportunity ability for fog of war ruleset and I see only Jakkal used a monster that lost opportunity ability and there were no more monsters on the battle with sneak, snipe or opportunity.

Then all monsters in the battle lost 1 ranged and 1 speed from their opponent summoners buff. The challenge post advised to use ranged monsters with close range ability or return fire ability cause close range allows ranged attackers to attack from first place and monsters with return fire will return reduced damage back to their attacker when gets hit with a ranged attack. And I see both team chose a monster with close range ability but there's no monster with return fire.

Lineup strategy of Jakkal

Venari Markstrat is chosen to be a martyr there as it can't attack from the first place but being a martyr, it'll give +1 to all stats of the next monster The Vigilator and when this monster will come to the first place, it'll do melee attack and it will do ranged attack till it stays in the second place and it'll attack twice each round as it has double strike ability.

Queen of Crows can now attack from that place and can also attack if it comes to the first place as it has close range ability and its headwinds will reduce range attack of all opponent (Mysti80) monster. Supply Runner will do the same as the Supply Runner of Mysti80 may do as in restoring the lost speed of all monsters that they lost for the opponent summoner. All monsters gets two armor because of the protect ability of Ravenhood Warden and it should get harder for Mysti80 now. If Lira the Dark attacks Zyvax Vuul then Zyvax Vuul would lost its flying ability because of the snare ability of Lira the Dark.

Lineup strategy of Mysti80

Cornealus of Mysti80 should get good chances of healing itself as it has heal ability and its thorns ability can be a great deal as well against the Vigilator of the opponent monster if it comes to the first place and do melee attacks. Zyvax Vuul will attack every other round but with 3x damage which is a great deal if it can do some attacks before dying and this monster can attack from the first place as well as it has close range ability. So in case Cornealus dies before Zyvax Vuul, there' would be a tank attacker.

If an enemy attack Naga Assassin and misses the target then the enemy monster would take 2 damage although I don't see any chance of this. The speed that all monsters of Mysti80 lost for the opponent summoner now comes back by swiftness ability of Supply Runner. I see Cornealus gets thin chance of dying as it has its own healing ability and there's Venari Crystalsmith who also offers tank heal to this first positioned monster. Prismologist will do additional damage to adjacent monster of the target monster which may count as double attack.

The Battle

image.png

Both team started attacking each other after Zyvax Vuul charged in the first round. All monsters of Jakkal kept attacking Cornealus but it was not so big damage for Mysti80 team as Cornealus kept getting healed by its heal and Venari Crystalsmith's tank heal ability. Cornealus lost only one health in total after doing the healing and Venari Markstrat lost total two health in the first round.

image.png

Zyvax Vuul was ready this round and may do a 3x damage anytime so monsters of Jakkal should be ready for it as well. After Venari Markstrat died at the beginning of the second round, The Vigilator came to first place and got +1 to all stats for martyr ability of Venari Markstrat and did a melee attack on Cornealus where Cornealus lost some health but also returned the favor using thorns ability and it happened twice because of the double strike ability of The Vigilator.

Zyvax Vuul did a 3x attack on The Vigilator and Cornealus almost died but it got another chance and got healing twice for heal and tank heal and stood up with a big health again. Then there was round three where The Vigilator tried to kill Cornealus but the attacker died for its own deed as Cornealus returned the attack using thorns ability.

Queen of Crows came to first position and can attack still for its close range ability and Cornealus almost died again and came down to 1 health once more but it got a chance again by getting healed. Every attack of Prismologist did a range attack to its target and a blast attack to the monster adjacent to the target monster. In fourth round, Cornealus got the same health as it had at the beginning and it didn't need the tank heal in round 5 as it already had the max health.

image.png

Queen of Crows and then Supply Runner of Jakkal died as well. After Queen of Crows died, all monsters of Mysti80 got back the lost range attack they lost for headwinds and after Supply Runner of Jakkal died, all monsters of their team lost the speed the got from swiftness ability of Supply Runner. Then Prismologist did a nice attack where the last two monsters of Jakkal both lost their armor stats.

Zyvax Vuul was ready do a 3x damage at round 8 and it killed the last opponent monster with the 3x damage although the opponent monster needed a single damage to die at that moment. So, yeah Zyvax Vuul of Mysti80 did the last attack and went for victory.

MYSTI80 earned a lot of things for winning this battle.

I'll analyze another battle later.
