The last Mystery Challenge was more fun. Well, maybe only on my end since readers had a tougher time answering the puzzle, and I had more opportunities to interact with them.
It took almost two days for someone to solve the challenge. Seeweed had doubts about the word originally uncovered, and went with another one. Fortunately, both answers were mentioned in the comment, so I was willing to consider them as two separate attempts.
Player Seeweed got three Venari cards for his excellent deduction skills.
I realize several Splinterlands players may have low RC, like Seeweed. Thus, I'm removing the requirement of having one answer per comment to accommodate users who can't comment a lot.
I apologize in advance, but this next one's a lot harder than the first two. Jump to the end, and skip the rest of the post, if you want to get started with the challenge. The middle part is about some of my Splinterland activities for the week. It doesn't contribute, nor provide any hints, to the puzzle's problem-solving.
Gotta Catch 'Em All
I made a personal quest to get several Chaos Legion legendary cards. Most of them are very cheap compared to legendaries from earlier editions, despite being as strong as their predecessors. Some are even much stronger. They are true bargain behemoths.
I started with acquiring three Chaos Dragons and merged it into one card to upgrade it to level 2. The legendary dragon's Splash and Scattershot combo is pretty impressive. I'm quite happy with its performance so far, proving that the almost $30 price tag was well worth it.
That was last week.
This week, I was contemplating which card I should nab next. I have some $20 worth of DEC earned from several months of rentals. Earth's Queen Mycelia was my first choice, but the price that time soared from $10~ to $15 each in a few days. I won't have enough to buy three of it to raise it to level 2. And I wouldn't settle for a Mycelia card without its Amplify skill unlocked.
Missing the opportunity to get my top pick, I finally settled on another Chaos Legendary card. But after buying it and playing with the card in a couple of matches, I somehow regret my choice. 😅
All That Glitters Is Not Gold
My past self damned me. Here's my tweet from several months ago, before Chaos Legion was officially released.

I really dig the card's art and I've always loved Death Splinter; hence I tweeted such. So perhaps, while I was getting indecisive about what card to acquire next, I unconsciously gravitated towards Djinn Muirat. I had a long-ish deliberation before I bought Chaos Dragon, but Muirat was sort of bought on an impulse.
To be fair, the legendary card is not terrible. Maybe a better player would be able to untap its full potential. But for me, it's not the best pick out of all the $20 choices. I only realized that much later after completing the purchase. It has decent skills, especially above level 3, but at Silver League, its cap is at level 2.
Its level 2 version doesn't seem to live up to its legendary name.
The Knockout ability only conditionally works if you have other monsters with Stun on the team. There's a 50% chance for Stun, so Knockout's utility is further lessened. It's one other skill, Giant Killer, only works for monsters with mana ten-and-up. There are very few of them in Splinterlands, and much rarer in the Silver Leagues. Also, many of these heavyweights have Void, like Fire Splinter's Grum Flameblade and Caladuum, so Djinn Muirat's double damage is nerfed back to its basic damage output.
I really should have been more careful. I saw that it's a lot cheaper than the other Chaos legendaries at $7+, so I moved fast thinking it was a good deal. I didn't realize right away it was cheaper for a reason.
How about you guys, if you got a free $20 what card or cards would you buy? I'm not saying I'm giving one; just asking for very needed opinions. 😆
The Mystery Card Giveaway Challenge
Winner: @marleyroots
Marleyroots guessed the card name correctly. The mystery word is still a secret but answering the name of the card counts as a win. The "trick" behind the hidden message won't be revealed for now because I plan to use it again on the next challenge. 😅 I will also raise the prize card bar a bit higher next time, since this mystery challenge technically remains unsolved.
Basic rules:
Only active players of Splinterlands may join.
One or multiple answers per comment.
Maximum of three answers per player (was previously five answers).
The Challenge:
Figure out the word related to the Splinterlands prize card hidden here.
Hint #1: the Mystery Word does not appear in any Splinterlands card name. But the word is almost synonymous with one specific card. Either the mystery word or the actual card name would be considered as correct answers.
Hint #2: It's one word with seven letters. Again, the msytery word is not in the card name.
Previous Challenges:
Mystery Card Challenge #1 - Answer: Lava Launcher
Mystery Card Challenge #2 - Answer: Venari
