Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches but this round was especially tough as I didn't win any of my submitted fights.
Brawl Result
I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 6 wins. There were 5 free wins in this match because one guild didn't submit someone for a game. My rewards for the brawl were 4,714 merits and 68.41 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 4th place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. I didn't expect to get so many free wins, so I guess that is the benefit of having someone fill the slot regardless.
Brawl fights
There were 3 that I lost and one that surrendered. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.
You can find the first match here. I lost this match. My opponent just had the stronger lineup with all those damage dealers. I went with a lineup trying to outlast my opponent, but it didn't work out. I just didn't have enough damage to threaten my opponent and my opponent just overwhelmed me.
You can find the second match here. I lost this match. My opponent just had the stronger lineup and I felt that my monsters were too slow and spread out in damage. Any damage that my Sandworm did on the back was healed by triage, and that Quora was quite deadly after it started to stack some bloodlust. It hurts even more when that void from the summoner and silence were combined to remove all my magic damage.
You can find the third match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup again. The speed advantage hurts and those snipe monsters destroyed my backline. I couldn't do much even though my opponent had several ranged monsters. I just got overwhelmed by the stronger monsters on the other side.
Conclusion
I think doing 9 fights for 4,714 merits and 68.41 SPS is a good reward for the effort. This was a rough brawl as I lost most of my actual submitted matches, but I was able to rake in quite a few free wins. 5 from guilds not submitting someone and one from an opponent forgetting to submit their match.
