Brawl Report #114: You can't hate those free wins

in #hive-1332318 days ago

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches and I did well this time around. There were more fights this time around, but I still think the free wins carried the brawl for me.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 5 wins. There were 3 free wins in this match because two guild didn't submit someone for a game. My rewards for the brawl were 5,762 merits and 93.598 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 2nd place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. This has been the best result our guild has had in a long time and the brawl rewards are just amazing. It's around a 50% increase compared to the last brawl when we were around 5th place.

Brawl fights

There were 3 that I lost and one that surrendered. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.

You can find the first match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. The level difference and speed difference just added up against me when there was that strong ranged monster in the back. I couldn't deal enough damage with all that armor on his tank.

image.png
You can find the second match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. He had monsters with high health in the middle and that let him outlast me in terms of the poison damage. The magic monsters just destroyed my tank so there wasn't too much that I could do.

You can find the third match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. The combination of Possibilus and Coastal Sentry is quite deadly. Add in all those sneak monsters and my opponent could focus his damage.

Conclusion

Doing 8 fights for 5,762 merits and 93.598 SPS is a good reward for the effort. This was the best brawl in a while in terms of results even if I didn't win any of my submitted matches. I just have to love all those free wins when they appear because that pushed me over a 50% win ratio. Make sure to submit your match even if you aren't confident.

The back to basics ruleset is always a tricky one. I saw it in the first game and sometimes all I do is lack cards with heavy shield. 93 SPS is such a lot. I've been looking for a guild to join as my present guild is nonexistent

My guild leader stopped playing but the officers still filled the frays. It's not really that active, but at least I don't have to pay a fee every season. I just like it because it's chill and the first guild that I joined.

Okay, are there open slots? If yes, then what would be the requirement to join?

Almost 100sps is quite a lot, much more than a season ranked under gold

It's a lot of SPS for the effort put in. I like it when the guild does well and pushes us up. It is rough though.

Yea get top spot is pretty hard, we end like 4th-5th everytime and get about 17-20 sps, still ok for the effort
