Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches and I did well this time around. It's rare to see so many matches this time around, and it's the first time in a few weeks that I lost more than half of my fights.
Brawl Result
I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 4 wins. There were 2 free wins in this match because two guilds didn't submit someone for a game. My rewards for the brawl were 4,429 merits and 57.956 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 6th place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. I think I jinx myself last post when I said that I was only getting 5 matches or less per round. This time, I had to do 7 fights and it wasn't that fun to see so many losses.
Brawl fights
There were 3 that I lost, 1 won due to surrender, and 1 that I won. So I included an idea of the match below and a few thoughts about it.
You can find the first match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. The speed difference was too much for me to overcome and the level advantage hurts.
You can find the second match here. I won this match because I took advantage of all those melee monsters with inspire. I thought that Iw ould lose this match, but my opponent's damage was too spread out and this allowed me to kill monsters as I focused my damage.
You can find the third match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. The level disadvantage plus all those legendaries made this match a lost cause.
You can find the fourth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. I thought that I would have had a closer match but my opponent's tank kept retaliating against my attacks.
You can find the fifth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. The speed difference was too much to overcome and that bloodlust monster just stacked more damage as it killed off my monsters.
You can find the sixth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. I got destroyed in this fight. My opponent's combination of no attack monsters with weapons training negated most of my damage while he focused down my monsters.
You can find the seventh match here. I won this match because of the ruleset. It allowed me to use Coastal Sentry in the second spot and allow it to attack. Combining that with inspire and my other melee monsters, I could overpower my opponent.
Conclusion
Doing 9 fights for 4,429 merits and 57.956 SPS is a good reward for the effort. This time, I had to do more fights than usual. Like I said earlier, I think I jinxed myself but my guild still did decent. It was close to being over half of my matches as wins for me, but I wasn't able to reach it.
