Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge Theme: Explore and Expand Splinterlands Lore - Katrelba Gobson

in #hive-133236 days ago

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we explore the lore of the game.

Katrelba Gobson

Katrelba Gobson is the eldest daughter of the Rock Gobson according to her lore page and she was a huge troublemaker who caused a full-blown war with the Centauri people for desecrating a sacred shrine. After this, she was sent overseas as a gladiator to avoid further trouble.

Gobson Family

After hearing her backstory, I was interested in learning about the structure of the Gobson family before expanding on her gladiator story. The information about the Gobson Family can be found on the splinterlands lore page. From what I read there, the Gobson family sounds more like the mafia or yakuza. The members are not necessarily blood-related as I expected, but it's a structure where people are recruited into the organization and split into specific ranks. Their actions make it sound more like that as they do many illegal activities and participate in the black market.

What I take from this is that the Gobson family is an organized crime network, so I am a bit surprised to see her sent away. However, I guess they value stability and thought that the war with the Centauri was not worth it. In this way, sending her as a gladiator overseas sounds like a good way to still earn money for the organization.

Story as a Gladiator

After being sent overseas, Katrelba Gobson became a gladiator. In order to survive, she used her abilities that focused on using her underhanded strategies to win over her opponents. As a member of the Gobson Family, she is well-versed in taking advantage of any opportunities the opponent shows. It is through this that her own abilities develop, and her lust for blood makes her an opponent that people do not want to fight. Her underhanded tactics give her plenty of chances to attack multiple times striking at any weaknesses the opponent shows. It doesn't matter if the opponent is flying or not because of her ruthless attacks. That is how her abilities developed as she fought more battles as a gladiator and it explains how her abilities grow as she is leveled up within the game.

Conclusion

This challenge was to extend the lore behind an existing character, and I felt like trying out Katrelba Gobson for this topic. I learned a bit about the Gobson Family and it's one of the newer set of monsters that was added in the past few years. I didn't understand what they were other than the factor that they looked like the stereotypical goblin character. I expanded her lore to explain how her skills developed after becoming a gladiator and how it fit the abilities that she also develops in the game as her card level increases.

What did you think of my addition to the lore?

LEO Power Up Day - December 15, 2024

Sneak ability kinda suits with the mafia style so the bloodlust as you said, the double strike I can't Reay get it into the lore

I just look at what is there and try to add to it. In this case, I just added in what I found on the Gobson Family and how it relates to her abilities.
