Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we discuss some of the good strategies that we can use in fights to win matches. This strategy is to combine martyr with bloodlust to buff up the stats of your monsters.
Featured strategy
Martyr is a great ability that increases the stats of your monsters when they die. There are multiple monsters with them and quite a few with low mana costs such as Vruz and Venari Marksrat. It works well when combined with monsters because the increased stats tend to help out in matches
Bloodlust is an ability that increases the stats of your monster when it kills another monster. All gladiators such as Quora and a few other select cards have this ability. When enough bloodlust stacks, the stats can get quite high and it becomes an unstoppable tank on the field. This can be further buffed up by the martyr ability that I showed earlier.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Noxious Fumes, High Five, and Born Again. This means that only five monsters can be used, every monster starts off poisoned, and all monsters gain the rebirth ability. There are 59 mana available and I am left with the choice of any splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Helios Matriarch | 6 | Summoner | +1 speed and Gladiator |
Mantaroth | 11 | 1st | Shield and Armored Strike |
Carnage Titan | 11 | 2nd | Double Strike and Reach |
Vruz | 2 | 3rd | Sneak and Martyr |
Quora Towershead | 10 | 4th | Bloodlust, heal and immunity |
Fungus Flinger | 3 | 5th | Blind and Martyr |
Total Mana: | 43 |
Helios Matriarch gives +1 speed and access to a gladiator. My first tank is Mantaroth with shield to delay my opponent as I deal damage. After that is Carnage Titan with reach and double strike. After that is a martyr monster followed my bloodlust monster Quora. My last monster is another martyr monster to buff up Quora.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match can go either way because my opponent is also using a similar strategy. We are both focused on trying to buff up Quora so it depends on who can stack up more bloodlust. I do think that I have a slight advantage because my Quora is higher level and has immunity.
Round 3
Two rounds later, I haven't lost a monster but my opponent's Quora got a bloodlust off my tank. I still think this match can go either way at this point.
Round 5
I am down to 1 monster left but my opponent still has 3. It's not looking that great for me but I still think it's possible to win the match if I can land my attacks.
I ended up winning the match a few turns later, and it was because I had immunity while my opponent did not.
Conclusion
The battle this time around did not go as expected, but my strategy of buffing up Quora worked out. Combining bloodlust and martyr was good but it sucks to fight against someone with that same strategy. In the end, my opponent got more bloodlust stacks but the Quora still died to the poison. I wasn't in any danger because my Quora had immunity.
