Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, I discuss a few of my recent fights and how I played cards to take advantage of the ruleset.
Battle 1
You can see my entire match here. The battle above has two rulesets: Five Alive and Target Practice. This means that only 5 monsters can be used and all magic or ranged monsters gain the snipe ability. In this battle, I placed my martyr monster in the 4th spot and this means that it will be the first target by any of my opponent's magic or ranged monsters. I had the overwhelming lineup, but if my monster did die, my Katrelba Gobson and Queen Mycelia would have been buffed.
Battle 2
You can see my entire match here. The battle above has one ruleset: Holy Protection. This means that all monsters gain the divine shield and this negates the first damage on this monster. For this fight, having more monsters is better than having less as I take advantage of the low mana and have plenty of monsters. My opponent has a monster with last stand, but even that can't outlast all the monsters that I put down. It may have been a different story if it was a powerful monster with bloodlust though.
Battle 3
You can see my entire match here. The battle above has two rulesets: Ferocity and Explosive Weaponry. This means that all monsters gain the blast and fury ability. For this fight, speed is important due to the blast damage. I have Baakjira with slow, Daarg with swiftness, and Noa as a support monster with rust to reduce armor. Combined with my summoner and Coastal Sentry, I was able to demolish my opponent before he could attack.
Battle 4
You can see my entire match here. The battle above has two rulesets: Beefcakes and Noxious Fumes. This means that all monsters start off poisoned and only monsters with 5 health or more can be used. For this fight, monsters that can survive longer are better. I have two monsters with heal, and one of them even has immunity to avoid the poisoned damage.
Conclusion
Above, I showed 4 fights where I used certain cards due to the rulesets and how it was beneficial to me. Take advantage of the rulesets and it can be the difference between a win or loss. Depending on the situation, it could be more advantageous to use some different cards. For example in battle 4, The heal and immunity abilities allow you to outlast your opponent. Quora is a beast because it can also ignore the poison damage.
Do you look at the ruleset before deciding the cards you place? I do and I think it can be the difference between a win and loss.
