Splinterlands: Thaddius Brood is amazing in back to the basics when combined with ranged monsters

in #hive-1332324 days ago

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle that I had and it's about the card Thaddius Brood. I used it's abilities to win the match.

Featured Cards

Thaddius Brood is a death summoner that costs 4 mana and it reduces the enemy's magic and health by 1. Increasing the level increases the level of cards that you can play and I currently have my Thaddius Brood at level 6. It is my highest level summoner and I think it's also my strongest death summoner.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Up To Eleven and Back to the Basics. This means that monsters lose their abilities and counter damage is amplified. However, only a summoner can give the counter ability. There is also 23 mana and I have the choice of any splinter except for earth.

Thaddius Brood is my summoner for its debuffs and to increase the level of cards that I can play. My tank is Cursed Windeku because of its high health and attack. After that are two filler monsters to take some damage. My last three monsters are ranged monsters because they tend to have higher stats than their magic counterparts. The only downside is that it has to eat through armor first.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage. I have more damage than my opponent and my summoner reduced the magic damage. I am glad that I did not use magic monsters because of his summoner though because it would have to go through the armor first.

Round 2

round 2.png
I was able to take out one monster so it's going to be a battle of endurance. My tank will only last so long but the damage that I have is piling up.

Round 4

round 4.png
I skipped forward to when my tank died and I also missed a few attacks last round. So it will be a battle of endurance to see if I can kill off my opponent fast enough for not. If I miss too many attacks, my opponent can still win but I do think that my ranged monsters have decent speed so that shouldn't happen.

I was able to win the match a round later because I didn't miss any attacks.

Conclusion

The battle this time was exactly what I expected. I played a good strategy with my summoner reducing magic damage and that allowed my monsters to survive longer. I am glad that I didn't use monsters with armor because of all the magic monsters used and I won because I had more damage than my opponent. Using the ranged monsters was the right choice for the stats.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Sort:

yeah playing with anti magic summoner + range units, which probably have more damage than ap is good strategy!

I think your range monsters actually did their job very well and didn't incur any miss, plus the Windeku served as a very good tank indeed

It is an impressive battle
Your team has done good job
Peace

It was a nice battle.
I like your tank, I don't like playing against him, but like playing with him.
I think your ranged monsters are good, high damamge and one is a vampire, nice.
Your oponent didn't have high enough magic attack, which was partially due to your summoner, and that one point of health lost seems to have really made a difference in the match.
Overall very good strategy.
I don't use death much, but it would be interesting to see if one can build a strong team there.
I have good water and earth teams and fair life teams, but my death needs work.
