Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Super Sneak rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Lost Legendaries and Super Sneak. This means that no legendary cards can be used and all melee monsters gain the sneak ability. There is also 35 mana available and I am left with the choice of water, earth, or dragon splinter.
The summoner I chose to use this time is Helios Matriarch| for the +1 speed and the gladiator card.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Helios Matriarch | 6 | Summoner | +1 speed and gladiator |
Lurking Puffer | 2 | 1st | Corrosive Armor |
Xenith Monk | 4 | 2nd | Heal |
Vruz | 2 | 3rd | Martyr |
Quora Towershead | 10 | 4th | Bloodlust and Heal |
Fungus Flinger | 3 | 5th | Blind and Martyr |
Djinn Chwala | 8 | 6th | Thorns |
Total Mana: | 35 |
I plan to use Lurking Puffer as my tank as a filler. It will be able to tank a few damage from the magic and ranged monsters while my backline attacks. I have Xenith Monk as my backup tank because of its heal ability. After that is Vruz with marytr to buff up Xenith Monk and Quora if it dies. I have Quora after for its bloodlust, heal, and duo magic/melee damage. Then I have another martyr monster with blind. In my last spot is Djinn Chwala with thorns to slowly whittle down any melee monsters my opponent has.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match is in my favor. I believe that I have the advantage in damage so it shouldn't be too hard to get Quora to kill a few monsters and stack some bloodlust. My opponent also has Quora so it might come down to who can stack enough bloodlust.
Round 3
I was unable to take out the taunt monster due to the lookout monster. It reduced my damage from any monster with melee attack and I also lost my tank. That taunt monster is almost dead though so I should be able to start clearing up all the other monsters.
Round 4
I was able to take out two monsters but Quora was not able to land the last hit. It should be able to stack up some bloodlust this round though and with the speed difference, I don't think that my opponent's Quora will be able to kill my last monster. So I should be able to avoid bloodlust from that and that will keep an extra 3 damage per round on my end. At this point, I don't think I will lose due to the damage difference so I will speed forward to the end of the match.
I won a round later as I expected because I didn't miss any attacks.
Conclusion
The battle did not go as I expected. Quora is such a powerful card in these super sneak battles as it also has magic damage that can cut through armor. This time, my opponent didn't have any armor but it still worked well as a damage dealer. The only thing that I wasn't expecting was the lookout monster and how it negated more than half of my damage from my melee monsters. It looks like it could be a very useful ability.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.
