The Scarcity Of Crypto Outlets In Africa

Hello everyone it's @Joetunex and @Josediccus here again. Today, we continue our crypto series by talking about Crypto Outlets in Africa. Crypto Outlets are like channels that create crypto awareness through utility and useful experiences.

In this session, we talked about how important it was for people to understand crypto through familiarity because that was the major exposure that could create familiarity. @josediccus talked about earning Bitcoin through mining experiences back in the day and how that created the idea that there was a digital currency different from the traditional system entirely.

Although he went on to say his knowledge about crypto came years later, he already knew about crypto by earning it for doing certain tasks on some websites back in the day. Outlets create and make the learning experience better.

The difference between the continent and others is that Africa is a learning continent. People are exposed by familiarity and not by making research.

We went ahead to talk about the barriers to sharing the experience of crypto with friends and family and the barriers that are often involved as well. @joetunex shared his experiences and it reiterated the whole essence of the video that people are often misguided about crypto because they had no firsthand experience.

Published in wrong #splinterlands community, apologies guys.

Shit! Oh my, goodness. Apologies to all

Another wonderful discussion, we definitely need more web 3.0 outlets that can onboard and teach people about crypto. The new era is about self custody and being responsible for your own funds, banks are just like parasites. I remember back in 2016 I saw a face book post about steem so I created an account and didn't save the keys properly then in 2017, I started seeing posts about it and that's how I created this account. Now I have learnt so much more about bitcoin and crypto in general.
On boarding people on hive is a challenge because people always tell me most things online are a scam. There are people who are sure bitcoin is a scam and a way to lose money. They so trust the banks, its a pity. If they just knew how the fractional reserve system really works they'd go insane.
However, its not all doom and gloom as many people have woken up to crypto especially the younger generation. And the good thing is that its growing. On binance and paxful very many young people are selling and buying cryptos with their phones, making a living with peer to peer trading.
Anyways, thank you bros for sharing and I wish you an amazing new week ahead as we tackle April. Stay blessed :}

Like you've said, it's not all gloom and doom anymore because people are actually waking up to know and understand what crypto is. I think a few people would wake up in the future and discover how amazing crypto is and begin to wish they'd known about it earlier. In Africa, a lot of course might miss out on early adoption, but I think they'll eventually become late adopters. Look at Hive, we're just three years and so much potential already. Imagine in 10 years time. Needless to say, crypto needs more Outlets in Africa, I think hive is already an amazing outlet, but we need more just like I pointed out in the video.

Thanks for the brilliant comment and always coming to support us at all time.

The challenge we face in Africa is sharing crypto and how it is perceived by the majority, am much as Africa is doing fairly well in adoption rate it still has a majority that believes crypto is a scam or anything hosted on the internet for that matter.

I had a chat with a colleague last year and he could swear Bitcoin is a scam and such a person is very difficult to pass the crypto message across to.

There are some positives as you mentioned, some of the younger generations are waking up to crypto and embracing it and that is what we need.

Enjoy the new week and month bro, many thanks.

Great show as usual guys🥂

On @josediccus' point about outlet where people could get access to crypto currencies. There are some coins websites that give free crypto as rewards but the problem is how to gain access to it to the rewards. These websites give very minute amounts of these crypto, transactions fees and the rest could take up the whole earnings.

Second, many people don't have the willingness to learn about crypto because it's either the terms they come across while doing research are big terms and they just don't have the patience to read on or they follow the stereotype that anything crypto has to involve trading. Many people that I've asked about trading walkway start with the phrase "trading is hard" and that alone is enough to scar people off. They forget that there no success without volatility.

In a means to get Hive out to people, there's this initiative "Hive goes to school" that I've seen from time to time. It's a nice initiative where people go to schools to tell students about Hive and crypto currencies in general. I for one didn't learn anything about crypto currency while I was in school but this initiative makes a big difference for the future.

Irrespective of this, I do believe people should be more resilient about Crypto. Anyone who's willing to leave the system and better their lives should not really wait to be spoon-fed. We're living in a digital age, some people are on their WhatsApp for 24 hours posting memes, sure they can give off a little of that time to do research and save themselves from the monotony their system has put them in.

It's all about the willingness/ eagerness. You can't sensitize someone who isn't eager about crypto and expect good results.

Thanks you your response ✨

This is where Hive stands out and excels with the zero transaction fees, I don't know any other crypto platform where one is rewarded for their time like Hive and have the chance to cash out and also in the process learn about crypto amongst other benefits.

People get it wrong by attaching mainly money to crypto, yes there is a monetary aspect to it and so are other benefits, focusing on money alone makes one associate crypto with trading. It is a pity that some of us are not keen on researching and learning, and that is what Africans need, we've got to keep learning to keep discovering.

Hive goes to school

First time hearing about this, it is a great initiative depending on if Hivers are allowed to talk about Hive in schools and the country.

Many thanks for listening.

The initiative wasn't carried out in an African country tho. If there are hivians ready to spreed the word and schools who are willing to receive the word, then this initiative could also come to Africa.

Between, I like your name @wongi, I went to check a video where you pronounced it and I was right about the pronunciation.. 😃

Oh, I made a video like that😅. I can't really recall it tho. I'm glad you got the pronunciation right, a lot of people don't😅

Yes, probably two months ago, a video of a "Wednesday walk" if I'm not mistaken.

Oh oh, that video. I remember it now. My first experience with "chickwizz"
