It's me again, @jpleron, back to sharing my brawl battles. In our last guild brawl, I only had 4 matches at Fray 10 (Chaos Legion only fray) and managed to win three of them in a very closed match and one free win with my opponent fleeding the match.

No miss, no problem!!!
In this match, the ruleset are Odd Ones Out and Aim True, with 32 mana capacity.
Odd Ones Out limits our options in building a line-up with monsters having only an odd mana cost (ex. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, etc.) In a Chaos Legion only fray, it means we need to be careful in selecting our splinter/line-up to atleast choose the one that has powerful or useful cards with odd mana.
Aim True means that all attacks will hit the target. This means that abilities like Dodge or Flying, which increases chance to evade attacks, will not work. Speed also has an effect in the computation of the hit or miss chance. Although the hit or miss effect of Speed stats is nullify, Speed still can affect the order in which monsters will attack first.
Considering both rules, I opted to use Fire splinter because of these two cards, Grum Flameblade and Fina Voxom. Both cards have the Bloodlust ability which allows them to increase their stats when killing an enemy monster.
Grum Flameblade requires 11 mana with 4 melee damage, 1 speed, and has abilities which are good against magic monsters (Void and Void Armor). Usually, Grum's weakness is its low Speed since it has a high chance to miss when attacking monsters with higher speed and evasion skills. But since the Aim True is in effect, I don not have to worry about it. The last to attack is also not a problem since it has a high hp which gives assurance that it will still attack even after receiving damage.
On the otherhand, Fina Voxom has 3 melee damage and 4 speed with Opportunity ability, a great combo for Bloodlust as it gives a higher chance to trigger the effect since it will target low hp monsters.

Mages vs Archers, No Abilities!!!
In this match, the ruleset is Back to Basics. This means that all monsters will lose their abilities.
In a Back to Basics ruleset, Summoner abilities is the only way to give your monsters an ability or an added stats. This is important consideration if you want to win the battle. Since monsters losses their ability, please remember that each attack type can only attack in a certain position. Melee monsters can only attack when in the first position. Ranged monsters cannot attack when they are in the first position. And Magic monsters can attack in any postion, whether first or backline. That is the main reason why Mages are the best option in this ruleset. Although a good combination of Melee with high HP, followed by Magic and Ranged monsters is also allowed.
If you can see my card positioning, I placed Xenith Archer between the Melee and Magic monsters. The ideal position is to place it after the Magic monsters but the reason why I did it is because I used it as a decoy or a shield to absorb damage. It only has 1 damage with 3 HP so a good substitute for a decoy. My Summoner in this match is Obsidian which means that all Magic monsters will have an increase 1 magic damage. Magic Monsters is a priority for me and that's the reason why I placed all my mages at the back to preserve their health.
Match 3: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_HaIYNf8gqJuKIfM2EY7c&ref=jpleron
In this match, the ruleset is Odd Ones Out and Target Practice. I have explain Odd Ones Out in match 1 so for now I will go straight to the Target Practice. Target Practice provides all ranged and magic monsters the Snipe ability. The best way to counter Snipe including Sneak and Opportunity is to use Taunt ability to direct or focus the enemy attack to your single monster. Aside from that, you can used an all melee line-up to negate the effect of Snipe ability. Snipe will attack the first monster with no-attack, ranged or magic damage that is not in the first position. You can used this as an opportunity to counter-attack by placing monsters with Magic Reflect or Return Fire ability to return some damage.
These are my posible line-up for each allowed Splinter.
- Life: General Sloan (4 mana, level 4) plus a 1 mana monster either Chaos Agent or Gargoya Scrapper, and a Captain Katie (7 mana, level 1)
- Death: Thaddius Brood (4 mana, level 4) plus a Crypt Beetle (3 mana, level 5) and a Silent Sha-vi (5 mana, level 4)
- Earth: Obsidian (4 mana, level 4) plus Hill Giant (3 mana, level 3) and a Regal Peryton (5 mana, level 3)
Using https://splintertools.io to simulate and check the possible winrate with those line-up, it seems I made the right choice to go with the Earth Splinter. Although it was really a close fight due to misses.
Gladiator of the week
I chose FINA VOXOM as the Gladiator of the week since in all of my 3 matches that proceed, I was only able to chose a Gladius card once. In two of my matches in which I used Earth splinter, I decided not to used any Gladius cards since I think it is not advisable or not applicable based on the ruleset and capacity. Fina Voxom is my go to Gladius cards when choosing Fire splinter.
Overall Guild Result
Booty Lickers Brawl Rewards
If you did not know, our guild leader incentives those members who perform well in the brawl battles with DECs. I am the one assigned to record their wins and losses to check who will be given those rewards.
I used to do it manually but thought of creating a script to run it automatically, atleast recording the players result, analyzing who will get the rewards per tier, and calculating the DEC rewards based on some criteria (guild rank, tier, undefeated, etc.) Tier 1 includes Fray 1 to 4, Tier 2 includes Fray 5 to 7, Tier 3 includes Fray 8 to 10, and Tier 4 includes Fray 11 to 13. So, here is the sample output of my script using Python and Selenium.

Splinterlands is a digital, collectible card game built on blockchain technology. It is similar in concept to games like Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone where you build up a collection of cards, which all have various different stats and abilities, and use them to battle other players in skill-based matches. By using blockchain technology, players can buy, sell, and trade their digital assets freely just as if they were physical cards, and all transactions are recorded publicly and immutably.
