Hello Splinterlands Summoners! In today's #SplinterlandsCardGuide, I'll walk you through on how to combine cards. I'll also discuss the benefits of levelling up, which cards to prioritize and how to acquire them.
Why Do You Need to Combine Cards
If you are new to the game and already have some cards, you maybe wondering why should you combine cards. The answer simply is: to make your cards stronger. Monster cards gain stats and new abilities the more you combine them and reach its maximum level.
Consider the card below. At level 1, it deals 3 melee damage, has 4 speed, 5 armor and 8 health. If you combine 25 cards, he will reach level 4. At level 4 his stats increase to 4 melee damage, 5 speed, 6 armor and 9 health. He also gains an additional ability. As he levels up, he gains a particular stat and at certain levels, additional abilities. Combining cards and levelling up unlocks the maximum potential of monsters.
Summoners also need to level up. A level one summoner can only summon level one of units. Even if your units are levelled up, if your summoner is low level then the power of units will be limited based on the allowed level that the summoners can use.
How to Combine Cards
Combining cards is easy. In the image below, just click "all" then "+" to combine cards.
Unfortunately, I'm still missing two cards so even if I combine them it won't level up yet.
Which Cards to Prioritize
Another thing to consider is which cards should you prioritize when upgrading. For me, I prioritize cards that will have an additional ability.
For example, I'd prioritize Quillion Legionary to level 4 rather than Janni Rebel. This is because he gains another ability, Void at that level which synergizes with his role as a tank.
That aside, I'd also prioritize upgrading units that I need. For example, I need tanks in the Water splinter rather than backline cards then I'd upgrade Commander Slade first.
How to Get More Cards
Getting more cards is easy. The easiest method is going to the shop and buying them. The more fun way is to play the game, accumulate SPS and Glints as well as Merits from Brawls. If you have enough, use those tokens to buy cards and packs. This way, your deck grows as you play and you will feel that your efforts from playing the game are rewarded by your growing deck.
Final Thoughts
Upgrading cards is important in Splinterlands. Like in RPG games, levelling up makes you stronger which will prepare you for higher leagues and more challenging battles. The higher the league you compete in, the more rewards you earn. So upgrade your cards as soon as you can!
Thank you for reading and have fun playing Splinterlands!
