Rebellion cards presale has ended with success and a whopping 492,665 packs were sold including rewards. Players are now waiting for General Sale to start which is scheduled to kick off on December 5, 2023. Buyers are eager to lay their hands on unopened packs and see how cards work in the new Rebellion system.
The good thing is that the Splinterlands team has revealed some of the monster art and cards to give an idea about the Rebellion cards and their abilities. We'll look into some of the Rebellion cards revealed by the Splinterlands team and we'll also discuss their potential impact in the upcoming update.
Gobalano Soldier
Gobalano Soldier is a common Fire card, it consumes 3 mana to be placed in a battle slot. The following chart shows his stats from levels 1 to 10.
The card comes with Sneak and Ambush abilities at level 1 and gets Shatter its 3rd ability from level 5.
Ambush is a new ability and it triggers immediately before even the battle starts. There will be an Ambush round if any of the player's lineup includes an Ambush monster. Players can weaken their opponent's units in the Ambush round and drastically reduce the ability to fight back. Have a look at the Ambush round in the image shown below.
Now, imagine using Gobalano Soldier in a battle as he causes havoc in the enemy's battle lines without even noticing his attack.
Infernal Firestorm
This monster is from the Plane of Fire and is made up of molten rocks and ceaseless fire. It is an epic Fire unit with Flank and Demoralize abilities. The following table shows Infernal Firestorm's stats from levels 1 to 6.
The card possesses Flank ability at level 1 and receives Demoralize ability at level 6.
Flank gives Reach ability to a monster in 2nd position when the Flank monster stands at first position as a tank.
It is a game-changing ability for high mana battles, suppose you place Goblin Mech or any other unit such as Gorth or Magnor, you can easily decimate the opponent's tank.
Chaos Animator
Chaos Animator is a common Death unit and costs only 3 mana to be placed in a battle. She cannot attack herself, but her abilities can be deadly if combined with suitable monsters. Her stats are as follows.
Her Amplify ability can add +1 damage to Thorns, Return Fire, and Magic Reflect abilities. She gets Void from level 3 which reduces 1 magic damage and adds *Redemption8 at level 10, when she dies she does 1 melee damage to all enemy units.
She can also be used as a tank in low mana battles where the opponent mostly uses magic monsters. You can add her to the team of Thaddius Brood to take even less or no damage from magic attacks.
Anasth Soothsayer
Anasth Soothsayer is a rare Water unit and she is a nasty support unit that your opponent will hate to see in your lineup. She knows how to soothe injured party members and neutralize the growing stats of enemy units. Let's have a look at her general stats first.
She is bundled with 5 support abilities (Cleanse, Tank Heal, Lookout, Dispel, and Dodge). She can remove bad effects such as poison, affliction, blind, etc. with Cleanse ability except for the Cripple effect. Her Tank Heal ability ensures that the monster in 1st position stays longer in the battle. With Dispel, she can remove stats-increasing effects such as Bloodlust, Martyr, and Speed. She is a tough cookie against melee and ranged attacks as she evades such attacks with a 25% chance.
Lookout ability adds damage reduction buff from Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity attacks to adjacent units. Units on the left and right of Anasth Soothsayer will take 1 less damage from stealth attacks.
Lookout unit also decreases the Ambush attackers' damage to half, all friendly units will take half damage from attacks made during an Ambush round.
She can be a nightmare for monsters that increase stats with Bloodlust and Martyr and can prevent tank unit from negative effects. She can be placed wisely between 2 units to take advantage of her Lookout ability. Using her with a Taunt monster is the best strategy as she can heal it and also deal magic damage to enemy tank unit.
Zeddica (Dual-Element Summoner)
Rebellion extends Dual-Element summoning to other 4 elements i.e. Water, Death, Life, and Earth. We have already enjoyed dual-element summoning with Dragon Summoners, but now, Rebellion offers more variety in summoning monsters from 2 different elements.
Zeddica Blackthorn is the first in line of the new breed of summoners who can call upon 2 elements together in a battle. She is a common summoner and can combine Water and Death units together on the battlefield.
Zeddica has no abilities or buffs for her team, but she can create new strategies using different monsters from both the Water and Death factions. Think of healing a death unit using Water Tank healers which is merely impossible if we use only Death summoners. This new feature will open doors to more complex strategies that will be hard to crack.
Prophet Rosa
The new era of battle strategies is just coming to Splinterlands and it will change the way battles are fought. New tactical summoners are joining the forces and they will give players choices to choose from.
Prophet Rosa is one of those summoners who will ask you to choose one buff/debuff or ability to select from, then the selected option will be implemented on chosen units.
Prophet Rosa is a rare Water summoner who costs 5 mana, and she has +2 ranged attack buff and Shield ability. Ranged attack buff can be applied to 2 units while Shield can be applied to only one unit. The choices will be asked once the battle begins, and both teams are revealed to both opponents as shown in the following image.
The Select Ability menu appears over the summoner card; you need to select any one choice and click on the monster(s) you like to buff.
Suppose you are using Sea Stalker and Poseidon, they will have +2 to their attacks and both monsters can attack with 6 damage points each. it is a mind-blowing 12 damage combined in a single round just from 2 monsters. The same will stand for low mana battles as well, you can buff a Blast monster with a +2 attack, and it will deal extra blast damage this way.
You can select the Shield option according to the opponent's team or you want a formidable tank that can withstand big damage from melee and ranged units.
Rebellion cards are quite powerful and they are about to change the way we play Splinterlands currently. The way Splinterlands is evolving shows the game will become very immersive and challenging.
We will need new strategies to overcome the complex nature of the game and let's hope it will bring more competition.
