What's Good Splinterlands!
Hope everyone is well! It's the first week of September, and I just finished my entry for the Splinterlands art contest for the week. I have been practicing creating my art using Medibang trying to get the hang of it, last week I did a Waka Spiritblade, and for this week, I made a Fan art for a Legendary Fire card! I like Medibang's time-lapse feature since it doesn't cause lag while making the art.
Sorriel the Bale
The original design of this card looks so fierce and awesome and I just had to make one and here's my process.
Sketch Model
The first layer, I drew a marker where my model would stand on, make a small model which you can see on the upper-right corner and created a second layer which I drew larger scale stick figure giving a dynamic composition for the art
Sketch-face
After establishing my model, a created another later to sketch Sorriel, starting with the head. I wanted it to face the other direction so I could have a different face from the original design.
Sketch body
After finishing the head, add another layer to sketch the body and the lower extremities, which gives this awesome look.
Sketch Fire
Added another layer separated the fire details, this way it's easier for me to do the line art and when I start to put on the based colors.
Line art & Base Color
After finishing the sketch of the whole model, time to draw the line art, and come up with one below, and put on the base color.
Color blend and shadow
before creating and start blending the fire,I started putting in some shadow to give it more feature and details.
Fire blending
and proceeded with mixing of shades of red, orange and yellow, using airbrush tool.
Final Touch
Doing some final touches to the art, I try to make the gem on his crown, and put on some red background using a gradient tool.
