It is time for a new Battle Mage Secrets Challenge in Splinterlands!
This week I will talk about the Odd Ones Out Battle Rule:
This Battle Rule is pretty simple, we are allowed to use only Monsters with an Odd mana cost, it is important to notice that this rule doesn't affect the Summoners.
Let's see some examples:
The 0 mana cost is considered Even, so the precious Fiends Monsters, useful as baits or to fill the team are not allowed:
Furthermore, some of the most used and dominant Monsters will not be allowed:
Those are some Legendaries we will not be allowed to use, as you can notice this is a rule that affects every Element indifferently.
It is important to notice that not only the legendary cards are affected, but some of the most essential Monsters for different strategies will not be deployable:
As you can see thanks to these examples, the Light and the Earth elements lose a Healer, the Death and the Dragon elements lose a Tank with the useful Thorns ability, the Fire element loses one of its few Monsters with the Taunt ability and the Water element loses a powerful Monster with the Opportunity ability.
This rule affects approximately in the same way every element, so especially in this case, the strategy will make the difference between win or loss.
So, now that the introduction to the Battle Rule is over, let's see my battle:
ROUND 1:
As you can see I chose to use the Franz Ruffmane Summoner, I chose it for three different reasons:
- It will give me a +1 in Armor stat
- It will allow me to use a Gladiator card
- There is enough Mana to deploy all the Monsters I need for my strategy
The most important Monsters I deployed with an Odd Mana cost are those three:
The Venari Marksrat thanks to its Martyr ability will buff all the stats of the adjacent Monsters when it dies.
The Captain Katie thanks to its Bloodlust ability will receive a buff in all stats every time it kills an Opponent's Monster that added to its Snipe ability will grant me a way to hit my Opponent's second line Monsters in an effective way.
The War Pegasus thanks to its Shatter ability will destroy my Opponent's Monsters' Armor every time it hits them, furthermore thanks to its high Speed stat ability and thanks to its Flying ability it is a nice Monster to deploy in the last position in the case my Opponent chooses to use Monsters with the Sneak ability because it will have high chances to evade the attacks.
ROUND 2:
After one round both I and my Opponent still have all the Monsters alive, but, as you can notice, the Captain Katie is already close to its first kill, it means in the next round it will receive a boost, eliminating, at the same time, one of the most important Monster for my Opponent's strategy, the River Hellondale:
ROUND 3:
I lost my Tank, but Captain Katie did its job, eliminating the River Hellondale, so it gained a buff in all stats, and the Resurrect ability will not be triggered.
ROUND 4:
My Opponent's Monsters are weaker and weaker, the Captain Katie is hitting consistently the Monsters in the second line, and thanks to the buffs it will be useful as a Tank too.
ROUND 6:
I skipped to the sixth round, the Captain Katie took a double buff, one for killing the Opponent's Tank and one for the Martyr ability after the Venari Marksrat death, the battle is practically over, the Captain Katie is now unstoppable.
ROUND 9:
The Captain Katie thanks to the support of my other Monsters closed the battle during the ninth Round, it is interesting to notice that it received 7 buffs, so it killed six Opponent's Monsters plus the Martyr ability buff, devastating.
Final Considerations: The Odds One Out Battle Rule is not that complicated to understand, so it is important to choose the right strategy considering that we will not be allowed to use Monsters with an Even mana cost. A special mention for the Captain Katie card because it is really devastating, especially if our Opponent doesn't have a strategy to counter or slow it.
