Today's battle mage challenge is another interesting ruleset that will demand some level of intuitive skill combined with good strategy in this week challenge all monsters will be having thorn ability which mean if you're season player that prefer using melee attacking monsters for most of your battle ruleset then you must need to rethink twice before coming up with all your lineup monsters as melee units.
Hint for this ruleset is simple avoid using melee monsters as much as you can and opt in for range or magic attacking monsters, splinterland is fun once you can understand how the game rules works and when and how to come up with monster then you're good to go!
For this battle ruleset I used water + death element monster to take out my opponent with their water element monsters as well below is the battle like for this ruleset.
Battle ruleset
Briar patch ruleset gives lineup monsters thorn ability monster with melee attacks receive double damage, while melee attacking monsters with shield reflection are immune to thorn damage adding this monsters will be an added advantage to any summoner having amplify ability monster are also a plus advantage to players.
In this ruleset summoners must be very sensitive when it comes to choosing their lineup sneak, and opportunity monsters without shield reflection will only tale multiple damage on each attack.
Battle detail
The cost mana cap for this battle is 19 which means players will be limited to come up with monsters with low mana cost I decided to use double summoners unit for this ruleset combing water and death element monster thanks to new tactics introduced with rebellion edition cards. All my lineup monsters consist more of magic attacking monsters with one range attacking monster.
Battle lineup
DJINN OSHANNUS my first lineup monster is a magic attacker with void ability it can reduce magic attack from opponent monsters by 50% since for this ruleset players will likely come up with more magic attacking monsters my tank will be a good bet for this position.
MERDAALI GUARDIAN my tank although being a void monster can still take damage in order to last longer in the battle it need support which my healing repair monster will provide.
LIFE SAPPER a life leech monster thats add plus one health to it health everytime it inflict damage in an opponent lineup it is from death element.
XENITH ARCHER my last line monster is a range attacking monster it can only attack from backline position when in frontline it loss it attacking ability.
My strategy
For this battle ruleset my strategy was very simple avoid the use of melee monsters and use more of magic or range.
My strategy did workout well as my opponent also went all in with magic attackers although I managed to beat my opponent because of my additional health repair monster which gave my tank more time to last in the battle arena.
Battle arena
The battle arena lasted 12 rounds basically since tanks from both team are void ability monsters it requires some good amount of strikes before taking out my opponent tank.
Round 1-10 both team tank where in the battle arena from round 1 to 9 at the end of round 10 my opponent tank was eliminated from the battle arena.
Round 11 my opponent tank is out and this lineup are only left with two monster which can barely hold the battle ground.
Round 12 the battle was concluded and my opponent tasted defeat at the end of round 12.
